From digital pattern to fabric.

I draft my patterns in @itsclo3d, refine the proportions, shape and details before projecting the pattern pieces directly on to the garment for cutting.

No printing. No taping pages together.

Part 2 — The Trims

This is where the shirt starts to become real. I’m thinking contrast black piping to define the edges.

The cord thickness had to be subtle, too bold and it becomes costume, too fine and it disappears.

Now the final decision:
Black buttons for refinement, or pearl press studs for something more graphic? I’m not sure yet… maybe decide later. But what do you think looks best?

Small details, big shift in aesthetic.

Making space for creating again.

I’ve accumulated a huge stash of fabrics (12 vac-packed bags under my bed 🙈) This fabric feels like the right place to start sewing for myself again with a romantic, relaxed shirt style.

A linen long sleeve shirt with band collar and concealed placket feels like a natural continuation of the work I started while preparing for the @melbfashhub pop-up in 2023. That project taught me how much I enjoy slowing down, focusing on fabric, and letting small design choices speak loudly.

Here, the contrast topstitching, double patch pockets, and faux mother-of-pearl press studs all came from that mindset — designing garments that are simple at first glance but layered with detail when you look closer.

It’s rewarding to see how the lessons from that time are still shaping what I make today.
