Robe River Rodeo Chaos

A few short clips of the chaos we witnessed. There were some massive cash prizes available to the person who was able to stay on the longest, the largest being $11k

FNQ 2025 Part 3!

Our awesome friends John and Janelle kindly curated an inland trip for us for us to see some of their favourites places near Cairns. So we unhooked the boat and embarked on a 5 day 500k circuit.

This first shot is coming into Obrians Camp 35k outside of Mount Surprise. Spectacular landscapes and still a lot of Gold in the hills!

The Brolga! The official Bird of Queensland

O’Briens Camp Aerial. While the days here were quite warm. The nights were perfect for a fire.

The Blue Winged Kookaburra!

How the night sky should always look

Working up a thirst.

One of the many crossings we did on the Almaden Gingerella Rd. A road that is considered the very start of the Savannah Way.

How lucky are we!

Stunning

The Chillagoe Smelters. 1.25 Million Tonnes of Ore between 1901-1943. Copper, Lead, Silver and Gold were all extracted here

Me eagerly looking to the North and knowing all the Adventures that lay ahead up there.

Balancing Rock. Apparently this whole region was once Coral Reef

The Tom Prior Ford Collection. When we were told about this place and the fella that ran it. We didn’t quite know what to expect. We were lucky enough to get a good hour and a half of one on one time with Tom to walk through is incredible collection of running and driving Fords. Fords from a time when they didn’t make steaming shit boxes! 😂 where’s the Toyota museum you might query? It’s still out driving around the country.

Tom is in his mid 80s and far from good health I suspect. When we were there he was missing most of his mouth which made communication very tricky. Tom has made a life of being the BP Agent in Chillagoe along with trucking around the region.

His father bought a five Tonne Ford V8 in the 30s and he’s been hooked ever since.

The V8 Pilot, 1965 Shelby Mustang Coupe, 1979 XW GT351c with delivery mileage in a bubble to his daily a 1946 V8 Super Deluxe Coupe. He managed to pick the eyes out of Australian ford classics. He started nearly every car and truck for us. Absolutely incredible.

Understanding him was tricky. Then he’d start a 70 year old V8 and start shouting over it. 😂 I’ve never been soo focused in my life.

Far North Queensland 2025 photo dump Part 2.

Here some pics of the Atherton Tablelands, Lake Tinaroo, John and Janelle Beattie the original custodians of our Troopy, some Palm Cove goodness, that castle that the bloke built out of love for his wife. (I’m mental blanking). Dunno what that animal is that the Wallaby is posing with 😂. Cassowary’s. It’s what makes Cairns soo special in my opinion. The Reef spans beyond Cairns but few places have the whole package of rainforest. Waterfalls. Etc etc.

Gotta do some photo dumps over the next few weeks as there’s too many crackers gathering dust in our albums!

We’ve done soo much cool shit I’m gonna try to compile them into groups and caption accordingly. They’re from the past year! We are still in Coral Bay just to be clear!

This post is Great Barrier Reef! Plus this shit hot picture I managed to capture of a low flying airbus past a sunflower field. @toyota_aus

I’m gonna guess this was Barracrab Campground at Clairview. Moving on!

Mantaray Bay in the Whitsundays. We got soo roasted on this day. Absolutely spectacularly glassy though. There’s these Black Trevally that look like they wanted to bite our toes off. Big Mantaray Sculptures are dropped on the sea floor here to snorkel over. Something to behold!

Whitehaven beach! Probably not the smallest boat to make the trip but certainly not the biggest!

We had an extra 10L fuel most of the time however with 70L underfloor we never came close to needing it.

Sudbury Reef off Cairns. This was simply spectacular. When I say. “It’s great to be a Queenslander” which I find myself saying more and more as we travel. These are the kind of places I am reminded of.

We are about 48k offshore from our boat ramp in this shot. The view back to land of the FNQ mountains is equally spectacular. @seajayaluminiumboats

This was in July 2025. Just about had the reef to ourselves.

That small island behind the prop wash was Fitzroy. With the Trinity Forrest behind. Cairns is over the mountain behind that. @yamahaoutboardsaus

Hinchinbrook Island is to the south of Cairns and home to Mount Bowen of over 1100m! Think of Mount Warning sitting out on a Tropical Island. We visited Zoe Falls by Boat and had our breath taken away.

You can tell this is early in our trip by my lack of tan. While not the warmest of water. It was a a good 30 degree day and a short walk.

Orpheus Island. Part of the Palm Island group. Check out where it is on a map. Odds are you had no idea this paradise existed. Whales in abundance. Fringing reef. You can camp here too. If campings not your thing. Just book a few nights at Orpheus Island Resort and they’ll pick you up by chopper!

Em and I just concluded our week in Weipa. We will do a video soon on all we got up to….. However!!!! Sharing this part of the adventure could not wait. I’m fortunate enough to call the Mr Miyagi of anything involving a hook, lure, sinker, net and spear probably hell that bloke could probably summon fish with mere thought…….. a friend! If Donald Trump wrote the Art of the Deal. Notso would write The Art of the Reel. He took a few days out of his busy schedule to show Emily and I some of the locals. Holy shit did he not disappoint. We learnt soo much about his methods in landing big Barra that we have no excuse to not land many more into the future. His skill and patience resulted in my landing of a 105cm Barra! A Metery! And Ems first handful of Barra far exceeding what most keen fisherman catch in years of trying. A day out on the water was as much enjoyment as I could ask for. But to watch Notso repeatedly nail the fish forecast was something else entirely. A very literal case of ‘couldn’t have done it without you’ but maybe now we have a fighting chance. Thankyou Notso and Fifi for your hospitality. We look forward to catching you both again soon. Now to tackle the Punsand Punters! @emilyerskine95 taken in Weipa, Queensland by @_johnlaws_
