I’m happy to announce that I recently received an Individual Artists Programs grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events for my debut solo exhibition, Eclosion: An Exploration of Ballroom.

For the better part of the past year, I’ve been traveling back and forth from NYC, becoming immersed in the legendary ballroom scene. I have followed nine dancers, in their homes, at practices, at balls, at classes, and with their chosen family.

Not only will this be my first solo exhibition, but my first time shooting a project entirely on 35mm film, as well as debuting a couple additional mediums I’ve been playing around with.

I’ve been working on a personal project for the past nine months, entirely on film. It’s far from finished, but I’ll be sharing bits and pieces as I am taking time off from full-time freelance.

The past few months, I spent three days following Joeury, documenting her at home, at house practice, performing, and at the piers.
