which is your favorite? 1-10

last year i definitely progressed style and technique wise, but the most important thing i released myself of is needing every piece to be an elaborate, highly detailed work of art. i was putting so much pressure on myself to complete and perfect my artwork (and work in general) that i ended up taking a break for a period of time. around august i rediscovered the self expressive aspect of drawing and realized that art is about allowing my mind to flow freely on paper, even if it’s just a small doodle.
i believe that art is a window into the subconscious mind of the artist. art can be used as a tool of introspection. so, just as we learn to embrace our flaws, we can view the “imperfections” of our various creations as essential parts of the art itself.
i understand my art as a reflection of my being in the time it was created and bc of this it would be inauthentic if each piece were perfect and complete. i am human after all.
