Exclusive: The family of 10-year-old Abdulrahim Mohammed al-Jarabe’a, known by his nickname Amir, has renewed calls for an international investigation into his disappearance, after a widely circulated video showed him receiving aid from a US soldier in southern Gaza.

Abdulrahim was displaced by the war and had previously lost his father in an Israeli air strike. He was living with his mother, who is separated from her husband, in a displacement zone in southern Gaza. According to the family, he left home alone after following others towards the aid site. They were unaware he had gone until they recognised him in the footage shared online.

Speaking to Middle East Eye, the family said Abdulrahim had been missing and they searched for him extensively in displacement centres, hospitals, morgues and through humanitarian organisations such as the Red Cross, but found no trace.

His name did not appear on the dead, wounded, or displaced lists.

Since the footage began circulating, Middle East Eye has been investigating Abdulrahim’s case. Multiple health and emergency officials in Gaza confirmed to MEE that his body has not been received or documented at any clinic, hospital, morgue or forensic facility. No report matching his name or description has been filed.

The last confirmed sighting of Abdulrahim remains the video with the US soldier, prompting his family to question whether he was injured, detained, or transferred elsewhere. They are calling for an urgent investigation by both local authorities and international organisations to investigate his fate. by @_khaledshalaby

In his first interview with Middle East Eye, Gaza: How to Survive a War Zone’s 13-year-old narrator Abdullah al-Yazuri speaks out after the BBC removed the documentary.

Abdullah, who spent nine months working on the film, says he was left devastated: "I recorded more than 60 hours of footage, and it was all wiped. It is extremely disappointing and heartbreaking for me."

Facing harassment and threats, he holds the BBC accountable: "If anything happens to me, the BBC is responsible."

He also calls for the documentary’s reinstatement, saying: "I was very impartial in this film. I did not add or take away anything. The script I read was provided by the production company."

The BBC removed the documentary following pressure from British officials, pro-Israel groups, and media figures over the fact that Abdullah’s father is a deputy minister of agriculture in Gaza’s government. The broadcaster later apologised, saying it had only learned of his family connection after the documentary aired. by @_khaledshalaby

"If we reach a point where there is no safe world left for us to live in, what meaning will the spending we make to defend our countries have?"

Speaking at the Istanbul Climate Finance Summit on Friday, Turkey's Minister of Environment and Urban Planning, Murat Kurum, called for climate finance to be treated as important as global security, ahead of COP31, which will be held in Antalya in November.

Kurum said global climate finance needs are estimated at $7.5 trillion to $9 trillion, while current investment is only around $1.9 trillion. He described this gap as a "chasm" and urged governments, international institutions, and businesses to work together to close it.

The summit, which brought together various stakeholders, discussed how to turn climate commitments into funded, deliverable projects. by @_khaledshalaby

Footage shared by right-wing Israeli security minister Itamar Ben Gvir shows him visiting a detention center in Ashdod port where activists from a Gaza-bound flotilla were taken to.

“They came with so much pride, like great heroes. Look at how they look now… Not heroes, nothing at all. Terror supporters,” says Ben Gvir, looking at more than 100 lined up activists sitting face down towards the ground.

The flotilla activists were arrested and taken to Israel earlier this week after Israeli forces illegally intercepted their vessels in international waters off Cyprus. Israeli soldiers opened fire on one of the boats, targeting activists with rubber bullets. by @_khaledshalaby

Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has posted a video showing activists with the Global Sumud Flotilla being abused after being abducted by Israeli authorities.

Alongside a post on X captioned, “This is how we welcome terrorism supporters” in Hebrew as well as ":flag-il:Welcome to Israel" in English, members of the flotilla can be seen being humiliated and abused by Israeli security services.

Hamas has condemned footage of detained flotilla activists being abused after abduction by Israeli authorities.

The group said in a statement that the conduct of the Israeli leadership during the detention of the activists is "an expression of the moral depravity and sadism that govern the mentality of the leaders of the criminal enemy entity [Israel]".

Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar issued a statement condemning Ben Gvir for the publication of the footage, rather than the treatment of the activists.

“You knowingly caused harm to our State in this disgraceful display – and not for the first time. You have undone tremendous, professional, and successful efforts made by so many people – from soldiers to Foreign Ministry staff and many others. No, you are not the face of Israel,” Saar said in a post on X. by @_khaledshalaby

🔴What happened to the Global Sumud Flotilla🔴

Footage and accounts from activists onboard the Global Sumud Flotilla show Israeli forces intercepting multiple vessels in international waters.

Participants reported that boats were approached and later surrounded by Israeli naval units, with CCTV footage showing armed personnel boarding at least one vessel.

According to statements released by the Global Sumud Flotilla, communications were disrupted during the operation, with VHF radio signals reportedly jammed, preventing distress calls from being made.

Activists also reported that several boats were redirected against their will, as the flotilla – a civilian-led mission carrying humanitarian aid – attempted to reach Gaza to challenge Israel’s blockade.

In its statements, the Global Sumud Flotilla said participants are unarmed civilians from multiple countries and called on international authorities to intervene. by @_khaledshalaby
