I’m super thankful for everyone who came out to Circuit of The Americas this week what a blast. All the guys at skip barber were the coolest racers I’ve ever met. It’s so nice to be in an environment with people who just get it!

Next week its to VIR for some advanced coaching so I’ll throw a post down for the new gear I got👀

Here’s my onboard from yesterday’s track day at Harris Hill. I set my fastest time in this clip but there’s more room to improve. I will say that the lap was clean and I’m more full throttle through the racetrack than before. I hit the apex at turn 10 (turn 2 going CW) a little early and I bounced the rev limiter coming into turn 5 which is fine but I found it’s quicker on deceleration going from 3rd to 2 then from 4th to 2.

A couple of things need to change if I’m going to beat my new record, however…

I’m going to need to find better pads and rotors, and I’ve been recommended camber kits to save tires. Plus the front understeers a bit so I’m going to try and run a 255 in the front instead of running ballast in the front trunk (a big ol’ case of bottled water)

I will need a set of stickier tires. The oem Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tire is at best “ok” when they heat cycle and the tread wear rating is simply too high so I’ll need to look into getting something that’s more track-focused like a Michelin Cup 2s or the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2s. ( I hear those Dunlop’s are more predictable when it comes to wheel spin)

I also run a pretty low psi on cold because Michelin states the PS4S tire performs best at 30-32psi hot. However, I’m going to play around with my tire pressures a little more next time I go around. I think what I run is a couple of pounds too low, but it’s all trial and error so we’ll see the times later down the road.

Here’s a direct onboard of me going around Harris Hill’s clockwise format from earlier this week. The track felt much “quicker” going in this direction rather than the opposite way. I was able to take turns 10-11 completely flat out and I managed to get close to full throttle all the way through 6, but those bumps leading into it are pretty aggressive so I’ll have to find the right line going into there eventually, or just the nerve. I’m also going to work on my entries and exits on turns 11, 3, and 8 as I feel I could be using more of the track surface which is eating up my times.

Second track day at Harris Hill was a major success. Today being a clockwise day rather than yesterday’s counter clockwise layout.

They aren’t joking about that hill though with it being a very steep incline all the way up with a double late apex and then a decreasing radius off camber turn all the way down, with the apex being very late.

Going clockwise however was more full throttle and much faster than yesterday. Going counterclockwise being more of a “slower track” and a lot easier on my heavy chassis. So, throttle control coming out and then back into the long sweeping late apexes is crucial.
