It was 2011 when you passed away, and technology wasn’t what it is now. I don’t even remember having a phone, and if I did, we weren’t recording each other or taking pictures the way people do today. Be grateful for the family members who stay close while the world evolves, because I miss my mom so much. It’s still hard to believe she’s gone, and it makes me so angry sometimes. Just imagine having to go home with no mother, having to continue life without calling your mom because you simply can’t. It’s stomach-quenching and heartbreaking.

I don’t think I’ve ever fully healed, how could I? People talk about five stages of grief, yet I still don’t feel at ease. I miss your smile, your laugh, your tight hugs. Why did it all have to go? I’ve distracted myself for years, and it’s still painful to hear people talk to their parents, especially their moms. I think, “You’re so lucky.”

My mom defended me up and down, all around. You had my back like no one else on this earth. Your love was precious, loud, and sometimes overwhelming because you had separation anxiety, you never wanted any of your kids away from you. And I ran so many times just because I wasn’t getting my way. That’s on me.

I miss you praying until we all fell asleep. I miss waking up to you cooking breakfast, worship music playing, you yelling my full name through the kitchen window telling me to come inside. I miss your positive affirmations, your prayer texts, how you’d feed the whole neighborhood and invite my basketball teams over. You were so warm, funny, goofy, and unforgettable. You knew you were beautiful and you enjoyed life with your whole heart.

I’m honored to be your first daughter, and I’m committed to breaking generational curses and becoming successful with the years God blesses me. Thank you, Mom, for birthing me, raising me, loving me, and still watching over me.

14 years later & I still feel your prayers protecting us mom .
I miss you a ton’ hearing people talking bout you brings joy to my heart. You were so funny courageous brave and caring it brought so many together I loved how you loved feeding people and throwing party’s pray for everyone I enjoyed watching you and I have no clue how you took care of us all on your own but you did and made look easy fun your inspirational mom
I remember you always telling me to be the light in this world and that motivates me daily you inspired me to be great.
