Last year, my cousin Twanita came up with the most creative idea for her 50th birthday celebration! 🎉🔥

She wanted an old-school ’80s and ’90s theme, but with a twist! She gathered 25 of her female friends and family members and challenged each of us to recreate an iconic album cover featuring a female R&B or hip-hop artist from that era.

I decided to do something a little different. I chose a vintage magazine cover featuring the legendary @queenlatifah ! 👑 I found the look, purchased everything I needed, put the outfit together, and recreated the photo. And this was the outcome!

Now, let me tell y’all something about my cousin Twanita. She is absolutely brilliant when it comes to creativity and bringing visions to life! Her company, @twin.kie1976 , is all about making ideas a reality. Trust me, if you can dream it up, she can put it together!

What made the celebration even more special was that she created personalized album covers for every single one of us. So not only did I get to recreate my Queen Latifah-inspired look, but I also walked away with my very own album cover featuring my recreation! But, if you can see the Video, she also had some Pants made up with all of us on them!

I thought today was the perfect day to share this throwback and pay homage to the iconic Queen Latifah while giving my cousin her flowers for such an unforgettable experience! ❤️

Creativity, nostalgia, sisterhood, and a whole lot of Black girl magic! Big Ups to my honey for taking my original photo.

When your best girl comes to your job on her birthday to gives you gifts! Well the picture at the end of this video is one of the gifts that she gave me! But, let me tell you, she always thinks about me and I truly adore her. And she doesn’t say much about what she does on this Earth, but the families and Community that she serves on a daily basis is amazing! So I say this to say giving is her Love language and I love the spirit and energy of this woman. She is unapologetically Her and that is my favorite thing about her and she knows my style. You all have to follow her!! She is truly awesome and one of my beautiful Best Friends for the last 21 Years and counting @monica_castinggal ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #bestie #unapologeticallyher #friendships #bestfriend #giving by @_kitamarie_
