POSTS STORIES REELS

Started having never played brass, ended with a newfound family 💙

One year ago, I was watching the Reading Buccaneers perform at finals from my computer while teaching myself how to buzz on a tuba mouthpiece. I spent only three months playing the tuba in a concert band before walking into membership day.

Preseason was one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever faced, and there were times where I felt I wasn’t good enough or that I wasn’t going to make it. But having support from my friends, other members, and staff gave me the push of confidence that I needed to succeed. Over the season, I was constantly faced with new challenges, but having support from everyone around me helped me to overcome every single one. If my younger self could see now I know she’d be so proud of who I’ve become.

The time I’ve spent over the past ten months has been a dream come true, and words will never express how truly grateful I am to have been able to march with such an amazing team. To the staff, thank you for believing in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. To my section, thank you for being the family I never knew I needed. And to my friends and fellow buccaneers, new and old, I love you all.

Until next year,
