What is a woman if not free? In this project i tried to explore a part of femininity. If the majority of women in the world were put under a microscope, and stained with a dye-- the biggest part of her highlighted would be freedom. To be able to express, feel and create freely is something we should not take for granted. My earliest encounters with independent women have been through fantastical books and comics i consumed as a child and i wanted my characters to each have the same playfulness and whimsicalness. My first ever hand embroidery piece Inspired by the iconic prints of Rebecca Zwanzig. I’ve interpreted one of her stunning designs into stitch, all handmade with hours of focus (and backpain)
