Year of the Snake 🐍 | Rebirth, Fire, Becoming

The official Year of the Snake comes to a close on February 16 —the night before my birthday.

And that feels… intentional.

The snake sheds not because it wants to, but because it must.
Growth demands release. Sometimes gently… Sometimes by force…

This past cycle has been a death and a resurrection. I lost many things. 33 — the year of Christ —a year of dismantling, initiation, ego death, truth. Only what was real survived. Relationships. Versions of self. Futures I outgrew. Illusions that could no longer travel with me.

As the snake’s year ends, I step into 34 — not reborn as someone new, but as someone more honest. And a woman kinder to herself.

Adulthood not as obligation, but as embodiment. Power with softness. Fire with discernment. Joy without self-betrayal.

I don’t know exactly what this next chapter holds but I trust what’s unfolding.

Here’s to the shedding.
Here’s to becoming. 🔥🐍 taken in Nevada City, California by @_kosmic_kitty_

She’s not lost. She’s just done pretending to be light when she’s clearly fire.

Chasing Orcas through the San Juan Islands all the way toward Canada into the Salish Sea was pretty special 🇨🇦🌊 🫍

Sons may leave their family group to mate, but their deepest lifelong bond is with their mother—often returning to and traveling with her throughout their lives.

And orcas are one of the rare species known to experience menopause. Their elder females become matriarchs: grandmothers carrying decades of knowledge about where to hunt, where to travel, and how to survive—knowledge that can help keep an entire family alive.

Daughters may eventually form their own branches of the family as groups grow, but the heart of the orca world remains remarkably maternal.
