The decision to build a place I could call "Home" in Africa or the Caribbean became quite clear to me. I will not lie; thinking about these procedures can be stressful and forces you to take a hard look at your priorities and yourself. I asked myself a lot of questions through this process but knowing what is most important to me as an artist if I want this to happen was BIG for me. Thinking about all this made me realize that this project is not about "escaping" racism but about finding a place where I can just… BE!

𝘈m I 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸?
𝘈𝘮 𝘐 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢?!

Tackling these difficult questions gave us a sense of grounding and made us want to convey our perspective through movement.

This short dance video explains that this concrete jungle is not where I want to be and that the swirling "vortex" we are in is real. It is an illusion that affects us on so many levels and we, as a collective, need to take it into account when considering going back "home".

Little reflection I just had that I feel like sharing...

I think, as adults, the way we cry is important. To be mindful of how we cry and what we are sensing, or understanding, or not, while it is happening. I don't think it is helpful to rush our tears, to be angry or shameful at them or to attempt to shut our bodies while it is in the act of releasing, reveiling whatever your body is trying to communicate out of you. To you.
By reflecting on this, I equivalate crying to peeing.
You just gotta release it! (don't build up toxins!!!)

Our bodies talk LOUD.....
I ask myself, how often do we listen...
I ask myself, what are we running away from... by @_krissb

I've always loved this song...
And I'm getting used to singing with a full voice—I'm 100% going to seek a vocal teacher soon... I remember when I was in grade 7, I wrote the entire lyrics in my notebook just because... a likkle gyal like me dreamed of being killed softly, serenaded by the young bwoy singing my life...
I dreamt about feeling "all flushed with fever,
Embarrassed by the crowd
I felt he found my letter
And read each one out loud"
...Such beautiful imagery from those lyrics.
I did the same with Aaliyah's "4 Page Letter"
...."And I enclosed it with a kissssss"
Ugh, SO GOOD. by @_krissb
