December 5, 2021…I was RAPED on campus. A year has already passed by since being a Victim of this HEINOUS crime. To this day I am fighting for justice. Even today it still causes bottomless and unmeasurable pain in countless ways. I’ve had so much TAKEN from me. Sometimes it feels like my HOPE is hanging by a thread. My assault actually interferes with my day to day routine so this is my priority. I feel assaulted over and over again, but It’s okay if you don’t understand. Coming forward was MY CHOICE. My process is different from everyone’s. How I feel is VALID.

I’m here to say to Black Women especially that you’re NOT alone and just know that it is NEVER too late to get help. Others might blame you or you might even blame yourself, but it’s NOT YOUR FAULT. Many Black Women are unaware that you could even be raped by someone you know-even someone as close to you as a friend or even partner. CONSENT is CONSENT. You may feel like because you didn’t say NO then it’s excusable. SILENCE is NOT CONSENT either. ONLY YOU know if you want sex and it shouldn’t take convincing.

Even after coming forward since the beginning- to this day my rapist has not been held accountable and I now also seek justice for the unethical things that has happened to me during this whole process. I can’t speak for all Black Women, but I am one. I feel helpless and scared but still fighting no matter how much it feels like a burden. I feel that because I am a Black Woman it changes everything. I’m tired of being tired. I’ve gone through the worst imaginable to this day. Im trying every which way to COPE. I always fear of what will happen next, but I am not afraid of the TRUTH. I WILL NOT stop fighting for my own justice. It is not fair all the unnecessary trauma I’ve been through but for MYSELF I am doing this and ultimately by doing so I am for you too. I AM STRONG and sometimes VULNERABLE…I need help too. It’s sad to say, but I’ve done things on my own just because it was my life at the end of the day. Rape of Black Women occur in college more than you know-be informed. I’m sorry if it happened to you too.
