2025 was a tough year. my dad’s cancer diagnosis genuinely caused me to hit rock bottom & threw everything off track. nothing can prepare you for watching someone you love go through something like that. it traumatises you for life.

but it shifted how i see the world. i stopped rushing. it taught me to live in the moment. i realised how much of life people perform, how obsessed we’ve become with image, validation & showing off. when life gets real none of that matters. presence does. love does.

this year forced me to strip life back to its essentials. health. time. family. peace. i became more protective of my heart & more intentional with where my love goes. it softened me in some ways & hardened me in others. i’m grateful i still found my way back to doing what i love. creating & writing became my refuge again, not as a means to be seen, but as a way to breathe. i pray i always continue to find my way back. a lot of you have said you’re sensing a shift in the work i create now & that means more than you know. everything i create comes from a place of love.

i’m gonna keep showing love & shining my light, even when things feel heavy & the world feels shrouded in darkness. if there’s anything this year taught me, it’s that love is never wasted.

to my friends who held me up when i didn’t want to be here: thank you for checking on me when i was barely showing up for myself, for praying for me when i hadn’t opened my Bible in months & for making sure i was getting out of the house. thank you for speaking life into me & for always showing up in ways i didn’t even know i needed.

thank you for all the grace you give. thank you for not cutting me off when i take 40 days & nights to reply. or when i disappear with no trace. thank you for making life feel easy & light.

i remember seeing a post that said every time we talk negatively about ourselves, we’re talking negatively about the younger version of who we once were. now i consciously try to speak more positively about myself because little lamie deserves the world.

looking back on this journey called life, i can’t help but be in awe of her resilience. she’s been through a lot. but it’s heartwarming to see how radiant my smile was then … & how it still hasn’t changed. i owe it to her to treat myself with the same love, respect & compassion that she deserved then, & still deserves now. by @_lamiesgallery
