I’m so honoured to have been part of the very first Documentary Cohort at @viffest Institute for the Moving Image!!!

First pitch, new collabs, and great convos with talented and thoughtful humans❤️

Big thanks to @aniasfura and @ramibrahim99 for your tireless work to build the @instituteforthemovingimage from the ground up.

Shout out to my generous mentors @amandaxido , @jeremyxido and @isonixe, and to my lovely cohort of brilliant filmmakers for making the past 3 months so special✨ by @_leen.issa

Breaking Free⛓️‍💥تحرير النفس
My first serious digital drawing born in 2020 during the COVID era, as I was facing some hard truths about myself and the world. Crazy to realize this was 6 years ago, and happy that it continues to teach and inspire me by @_leen.issa

Late but necessary @viffest Catalyst appreciation post!!!
Loved running around the festival with this circle of brilliant filmmakers and our dream facilitators, @mangomariam & @ashleysugi . It felt like film school, therapy, and a warm hug all in one.
Feeling #Catalyzed and dangerously motivated to make some movie magic! 🎥 💫

Special thanks to @filmablesociety for my pic + @aniasfura & @ramibrahim99 for curating an awesome artist and industry program for us♥️ by @_leen.issa

I picked up a brush for the first time in years and started painting a vase — safe, predictable… and boring.

But at @noor.bahjat studio, neat and safe weren’t options. To my horror, she kept telling me to paint over whatever I thought I was making. So I did. Again and again — making a mess, going crazy, alchemizing god-knows-what, until something more interesting started to emerge.

That was two years ago, and this piece has been a good reminder to trust my process with its mess and beauty.

Thank you, dear Noor, for your sweet guidance through it all💕 by @_leen.issa

So grateful to have been part of this conversation with a brilliant panel of artists and academics from the MENA region.

We spoke about identity, exile, resistance, and the decolonial futures we hope to build.

Big thanks to UCW, SFU, CCMS, and MENA Film Festival for making it happen.
