I can’t believe I ran 26.2 miles!!!!!
Even though I grew up running, since 2022 I have experienced extreme abdominal pain and fever-like symptoms if I ran more than 2 miles — almost on the dot — and the only thing several doctors told me was that my uterus was twice the size of a normal person’s my age who had not had kids yet (lol).

After running my first half marathon in 2021, I had always wanted to train for a full, but time and time again, the intense pain I would experience made that feel more and more impossible. From 2024 onward, I took an entire hiatus from running and got my steps in by walking the streets of Boston instead.

At the end of last year, I felt like I should give it another try. And after a few non-painful 3 mile runs, I decided to make it one of my New Year’s resolutions to train for a full marathon.

Little did I know that this year was going to be one of the hardest years of my life and that training for this marathon was going to symbolize more than just overcoming one obstacle — but multiple. I started the year with 3 jobs and have since quit my stable W2, got laid off, refunded a large client, and have endured so many trials that often led to nearly giving up.

At mile 21, shin splints and knee pain tempted me to throw in the towel, but at the same time, when it hurt the most was when I knew I had to keep going. I knew I had to get to the end — I had been training since April to do it! And that’s the best representation of where I am in every other area of my life. Almost at the point of giving up, but knowing that God cares way more about who I am becoming in the process than how fast I can get to the finish line. And I think the finish line is close by.
