I am SO proud of myself for accomplishing this milestone in my life! Not going to apologize either for how long this post is, because my hope is that my testimony can inspire someone else:
As many of you know, when I graduated high school I went to attend Langston University. There I didn't make the best decisions or take my studies serious & even ended up losing my scholarship. I had a 9,000 school bill I couldn't pay because I'd already taken out so many loans (Just wasting money) So as a result, I had no choice but to come back home. I felt ashamed & knew I wanted so bad not to be another "college dropout" so I decided to get enrolled back in school. However, to do so I had to somehow get that 9,000 bill paid so I could get my transcript from Langston. I remember working 2 jobs just to save & pay that bill off. I would cry in the bathroom at work because I knew the desire of my heart was to graduate but I felt like life wasn't moving fast enough for me. I kept comparing myself to my peers & seeing how their lives were flourishing & mine wasn't & that made me even more depressed. I kept praying that God keep me encouraged & give me the strength to keep going. And by the grace of God I was finally able to pay my bill off! Unfortunately though, I encountered another setback when I was informed none of my credits that I took from Langston were able to be transferred, so I was forced to start all over & enroll in a community college. I really felt defeated then, because I felt like I was taking steps backwards. But I was determined to get my degree no matter what. So in 2018, thankfully I graduated with my Associate's degree & then was able to finally transfer to a University. I felt like I was finally on my way when I got accepted into @untdallas ! And so fast forward to today, I can finally say I GOT MY BACHELOR'S DEGREE BABY!!! I just want people to know, that first & foremost I owe my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ ALL the glory & to just trust His timing for your life & walk by faith & you can achieve anything 💙 taken in UNT Dallas by @_lomein18

New school. New beginning. Same heart ❤️

Today was a very energetic first day!! The kids came in with so much enthusiasm, curiosity and plenty of smiles! It was such a joy getting to know them and seeing their personalities begin to shine. Although this was a new start for me, I’m excited to let my light shine in a new district. I miss my old students tremendously but I’m looking forward to all the growth, learning, and memories I’ll create together with my new students!

🎉 FINISHED MY 1ST YEAR TEACHING!!!!!! 🤸🏽‍♀️

Stepping in the classroom was the best decision I’ve ever made. For the first time in a while, I felt fulfilled and that I was finally walking in purpose. Thank you Jesus for helping me every step of the way! You heard my prayers. You heard my cries and kept your hand on me throughout this school year. So grateful for all the laughter and memories shared in little ‘ole room 213. I watched students who came to my class not being able to read, leave with learning how and more importantly with the confidence to take on any challenge! They brought me so much joy, they made me proud and they made my heart grow larger than I ever knew it could. I will miss them but always have a special place for them in my heart.

And to the BEST partner teacher…Twin! (aka Doctor Strange lol) I couldn’t have been blessed with a better person on my team. The ying to my yang! Thank you for always being so supportive. The first week of school I was questioning my choice to teach and you encouraged me to keep going.

I’m so grateful for all LRE has taught me. Thank you to all the administrators, parents, volunteers and colleagues that always made me feel welcomed and supported. Looking forward to a restful and fun summer! And can’t wait to come back next year and do it all again ❤️📚
