„Trotzige feminine Kraft in einer patriarchal geprägten Welt. Es ist keine Verbeugung, eher eine Hingebung. Ein Sammeln und Umwälzen.
Ein gewaltsamer und zugleich zärtlicher Akt.“

Come, follow us into the land where the sun knows many faces, where soft warriors reside and strange animals stroke trees with their cheerful music.
Dream with us of sunny days and clouds bathing in the lake.

Growing up and growing old.
What a bliss it is to grow alongside your friends, seeing them in their multitude of personalities they become over the years. What a joy to see friendship expand into the next generation. What an honor to be a witness of your unfolding, @miri_ha14.

When I was a child, my dog was my best friend. The furry sibling I never had.
I often wondered how he saw the world. Now, I keep wondering if our story was more like Anika Meier’s or more like ‟Nacho & Popcorn” (by Anika Landsteiner). Both are part of the beautiful, funny, sad and thought-provoking collection of short stories from dog’s perspectives written to give new life to found photographs.

This is the third publication by Helena Melikov and SHIFT BOOKS in this format, in which she interweaves historical images with contemporary writing.

As a fan from the very beginning, it was a particular joy for me to be part of the team working on this book. Co-editing, contributing to the design development & selection of materials, scanning the images and hands-on assisting with the production were certainly among the many highlights of my internship at @shift.books.

Do make sure to get your hands on a copy!

P.S. Slide 3’s photograph was actually chewed by a dog. Yum! 🐕
