On the last day of dry January🥂❌, veganuary🌱, no caffeine or sugar January, basically nothing January 😂😩 and I question why I did that to myself, timehop sends me a stark reminder! Same pictures, same place, one year difference!
I’ve seen so many posts recently of incredible women showing their skin struggles and they’re not alone! Eczema hit me like a ton of bricks, I had never had it before, but it spiralled to the point where I had no control. Every part of my body was covered in red raw, itchy, flaky, bleeding, blistered hell, and I mean EVERY part. Although I tried every cure; phototherapy which burned a layer of skin off, Chinese herbal medicine which was just expensive, blood tests, allergy tests, elimination diets, a skin biopsy, yoga, meditation (which do all work), it was too aggressive and infected at that stage. I still went to work the day that photo was taken, and was promptly sent home! I just remember looking at myself in the mirror sitting in tears thinking my skin would be like this forever and had definitely lost all hope. I could barely wear clothes, I couldn’t walk or move properly, I hadn’t slept more than a couple of hours a night in 3 months, I was cut all over but I was so itchy I couldn’t help but scratch more 😔😩 I went to my dermatologist who gave me strong oral steroids which wasn’t what I wanted after months of avoiding them but as it got so bad I had no choice - to my disbelief it totally disappeared within a few days and it has hardly returned! I still have had to use emollient/steroid cream sparingly until this month when my skin has been the best it’s ever been! Thanks to #veganuary I’ve never felt better; full of energy, strong, healthy, lighter😂, positive mindset (I will definitely be having a glass of wine and a burger tomorrow though) 😂😍👀 check my blog (link in bio) if you want to know how I got rid of it and kept it at bay - I should have a PHD in this stuff and I have soo many tips! No one should suffer like this and although there are WAY worse things that can happen to people, I do understand more than anyone how awful and life limiting it can be. Bring on the rest of what’s already been an amazing 2018 so far!💕 by @_lydslife

Eczema + Relationships ❤️💔 On hols with a bf in 2018 vs on hols with a bf in 2020. Spot the difference?

Skin doesn’t lie. Your body is telling you all you need to know. We talk about medication, products and cures to chronic illnesses, both mental and physical. But we don’t talk about the impact of relationships and ‘real life’ on our health. Pay attention to how people in your life are affecting your health.

In 2018 I was in the wrong relationship, I was dating a compulsive liar, he lied about EVERYTHING. Even when there was no reason to lie. A person who told me he was with me because no one else would ever put up with me, like I should be grateful for being in the presence of somebody willing to deal with me as a human being. How degrading and low.

We finally sold our house a few weeks ago, and just as it was all finally ending he wrote to my employer asking they investigate me for ‘theft’ 🤔🥴😂. It was like a last ditch attempt to hurt me and my career. The last attempt of a narcissist to control and degrade another human being. Looking back - an experience I am grateful for and a huge life lesson. Human behaviour is so interesting.

It’s 2020, and I am in a new relationship where I can be unapologetically myself and I am loved for it. In the presence of this person I am calm, tranquil, smiley, excited. It’s really that simple. Pay attention to how your body reacts to another person’s presence.

We choose people based on a checklist of completely irrelevant factors that do not relate to happiness of any kind. We settle based on our own insecurities and it’s sad.

The skin is our largest organ, it’s our vessel, protector, saviour. If we spent as much time working on the ‘real’ version of ourselves as we do perfecting the ‘social media’ version of ourselves, the ‘work’ version of ourselves, the ‘perfect mother’, ‘perfect sister’, ‘perfect girlfriend’, ‘perfect whatever’ version of ourselves, we would be a lot happier.

Anyone can paint whatever picture of you they want. We can not control others thoughts and actions but we can control our reaction it them. Let it go. The best revenge is a life lived well ❤️❤️ by @_lydslife

💛In a world of flawlessness, I always try and show reality (swipe to see my terrible perioral dermatitis ➡️➡️➡️). It’s not often I can show off clear skin, whether it’s my eczema, skin picking, hormonal spots, or just inflammation - it can feel heavy when you don’t have confidence to show up naturally.

So - couldn’t resist taking a few selfies this weekend when my skin was doing goooood. Always down to time of month, sleep, food & drink intake etc - usually more simple than you think.

💕💫 Have treated myself to some nice facials recently, as well as skin boosters (great for dry skin) @themediclinics have lots of gorgeous clinics and I went to their Hertfordshire one, so gorgeous and truly recommend if you’re local (they also have clinics in Ldn) 🤍🤍🤍 by @_lydslife
