I am so grateful and overjoyed to be an incoming student at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine!

Several months have passed since getting the acceptance phone call and letter, but I still get emotional the same way I did when I first received them. If you know me personally, then you know that I’ve had the dream of becoming a doctor since elementary school, and that passion is central to who I am as a person. There is no other field or career I would ever want to pursue, and starting medical school has been on every vision board I have ever made.

Although the road to this point was not easy in the slightest and there were many sacrifices I had to make, I would walk that road a thousand times over if it meant getting here. Thank you to every person that has listened to, supported, and encouraged me throughout this journey…despite my tendency to stress about the smallest details. I would not have accomplished this without that support. While I may have had worries or doubts in other areas of my life, the one thing that has never wavered is my determination to get here, and I promise to carry that same determination with me into the future.

There are still longer and rockier roads for me to travel on this path, which will bring experiences and people that will continue to shape me into the physician I am yet to become. I am so stinkin’ excited to see what that path holds for me. I just hope at the end of it all, I can make y’all proud of the person behind “Dr. Brown.”
