These past few months I’ve been in Oslo working on my master’s thesis at the RITMO research centre on the relationship between human movement and perception on indoor spaces.

Our perception of spaces is deeply correlated with our cultural understanding of the world.
In order to study how do we move inside of different indoor spaces, I’ve designed a 3D audio experience that recreates different indoor rooms around the world.
By using MAX/msp and Qualysis motion capture system users control the soundscapes of the experience with their body movement and position on the space. I’ve developed a 3 phase experience with 5 different rooms, where users can sonically explore the different spaces and interact with the different sound objects of each room.
The main objective of the experience is to understand how do people move and explore spaces and motivates them to do so.

Soon I hope to share some more about my project and some conclusions!!

Thank you to everyone who participated in my experience and was part of the process <3
Special love to my desk neighbour, collaborator and friend @lenakatharinabx. Made every second of my day brighter.

Open to collaborations, to talk more about spatial audio, interactive systems and other fun things! taken in Oslo, Norway by @_mar_garida__
