Happy Friday the 13! 🔪
I’ve had this @zutagroup GBG120 for about three months now. And, even with very little time I’ve had to sit down and play it, every time I do it just blows my mind. It’s so versatile and I’ve barely scratched the surface of its potential. The build quality is next level and the controls are all very tactile and responsive. This amp has to be one of the best and most amazing pieces of gear I’ve ever owned. Hey Baskim, tell Reinhold the Überschall is collecting dust. Ha. 😂

Is This Love, pt 2… my favorite John Sykes solo. No matter what you may think of David Coverdale or Whitesnake as a band, Sykes was a monster player that not enough people talk about. This is the first song in a fun, little series I’m calling “#retro-rewind”. It will be covers of 80’s & 90’s rock and metal that I grew up with and love. Each song (reel) will mostly be posted in 2 parts, in effort to keep the length to two minutes or under. I’ve challenged myself to not only play them as closely as possible to the original recording, but to try nail the tone as well. (Wish me luck! Ha.) Life doesn’t always seem to end up the way we think it will. In fact, sometimes it ends up being completely different. I feel like I’ve finally not only been able to accept that, but have made peace with it. Being grateful for what has happened is a much healthier way of living than being miserable about what hasn’t. Watched my 26 year old niece get married today. Hard to believe she was only a couple months old at my own wedding. Super proud of her and the woman she’s become. She picked a good dude who works hard, is motivated and treats her well. Also, he’s into cars, so… bonus points. Ha.

I’ve been thinking about all the times in my life that I could’ve just thrown in the fucking towel and quit. From food, alcohol and yes, even drug addiction (something only a couple of people in my life ever knew about), to battling my weight since as far back as a little kid. I’ve definitely had the odds stacked against me in many facets of my life, and it was either quit and succumb to them, or give them the finger and push past them believing that one day they would be behind me. This isn’t me asking for accolades, rather this is me telling you this… if *I*, the most average person in almost every way possible can manage to not quit, to not give up, and instead supplant whatever it is that you may think has you beat… then so can you! I’m here for you if you ever need even just an ear to listen. Believe me, I have been through some shit.
