It’s been one year since the release of my single, Internet Song.

I realized I hadn’t posted about the release of ‘Internet Song’ on this account (I got a new one last summer) so here we go. This is the official post!! This song was one the first songs I wrote when I started writing again at 19. I listen to it in many different ways and find new meaning within it as it evolves with me. When I started writing it in June 2023, I wasn’t even pursuing music yet. It was a hobby I picked back up because I needed to. It allowed me to understand things and express myself in a new magical medium. This song is about the internet but it’s also about a lot more… perception, escapism, childhood trauma, identity etc. It’s great..

I can’t believe it’s been a year. I haven’t done a whole lot (recording wise), life has been tough lol, but I am excited to release more soon and evolve as an artist this next year. WATCH OUT.

2025. I loved more than I ever have, but I grieved equally as much. I have never been this acutely aware of my emptiness… I am relearning to love, despite it. This year, I met many new people, loved so intensely, got my first apartment, released my first single, sought out better treatment, and, best of all, survived!

This video is a bittersweet love letter to someone I no longer am. It’s for the depth. It's for the emptiness. It’s for when I say “my love is never wasted,” even if sometimes it feels like it is. It’s for my pain and my ability to try and live a beautiful life. It’s for my younger self who wanted someone to understand, protect, and love her… and it’s for finally becoming aware of what we need.

I’m not terribly optimistic about 2026. I don’t trust the world or most people. I do, however, trust my ability to see beauty and love in things. Here’s a glimpse of my life, mind, and the love I got to experience in 2025. Thank you for watching🌠 by @_marthasteele_

I haven’t explained my name on this account, and so today, in honor of Martha, I thought I should. I have chosen “Martha Steele” to be my stage name and my name online. It is very special to me.

Martha is the woman in this photo. She’s my grandma, who was an artist and a beautiful soul who passed away before I was born. I never got to meet her, but I feel her presence deeply. I truly believe I knew her at one time or another…part of me believes I am her second kick at life, but that’s a story for another time. From everything I’ve heard about her from my dad, she was an insanely creative, progressive, and beautifully weird woman. Her existence has shaped me in ways I can’t fully explain. From hearing about her dreams of building an earthship home to selling puppets at Renfaires, she was my first taste of nonconformity. I hope to make her proud by including her in this project.

Now, as for “Steele”. Steele is my mom’s maiden name. It’s a sick name, and I wanted to reclaim it and bring good to it. My mom has always been a fiery spirit, and this name is very representative of who she is- tough, determined, and protective. It feels very fitting because I wanted something to honor the women who came before me.

It’s very special to have this name be a part of my music and to have my real name be separate from it. Thank you for reading. Much lovexx
