$Forward looking yet a decade seems worth noting. Celebrating 10 years since the release of my 1st MAST album “Omni”! A nod of immense gratitude to the albums collaborators. And an open invitation to all to (re)listen. A wild ride indeed - /\\\ MAST /\\\ - Omni Label: Alpha Pup Records Release: January 28th 2014 The multiverse of MAST is strikingly similar to physical life here on earth. Philadelphia raised, L.A. residing Tim Conley presents us with the everlasting unchanging everything of “OMNI”, a debut musical sphere of bliss and structure, of chaos and destruction. MAST communicates to the core with a contemporary, electronic review of song-writing through a jazz composer’s lens of unorthodox transcendence. Invoking the spirit of monumental Japanese painter Katsushika Hokusai, Conley pronounces an aesthetic theme to the surrounding emotive course of the album at-large bound by the serene and magical landscapes sometimes confusing, always intriguing. — The Los Angeles electronic forefront of Alpha Pup Records speaks to every walk of life on the “OMNI” vibration plane, and it is not alone that the MAST vessel sets sail the maiden voyage. Assists from soul-navigating vocal gestures of Anna Wise (Sonnymoon, Kendrick Lamar), way-out raps from Brainfeeder/Warp’s Jeremiah Jae, lullaby serenades from Low Leaf, and ryat (Brainfeeder) attribute to the intricate album weaving of all things. All companions considered, it is Conley’s solo sense of devotion to experimental process that guides us through the perfect flux that is MAST. Overjoyed to announce new LP “Battle Hymns of the Republic” with first single “Call to Action”! (@alphapup @worldgalaxyjazz )

“This album is a deliberate reflection to events happening in our country and around the world. A spiritual protest against the rise of misinformation and fascist ideologies that aim to redefine who we are at our best and fondle our worst sensibilities.
At our best, we are nation of immigrants, a nation of refugees, a nation that thrives when diversity, compassion, education and science are nestled not neglected. At our worst, we are a nation in denial of our past and present evils. A nation dismissive its founding idols were slave owners while still suffering the pitfalls of institutional racism. A nation lead by narcissistic tyrants whom govern through division. A nation who covers its eyes and ears to the indisputable coming tsunami of climate change as the furious waves of natural disasters and a global pandemic this very moment challenges our humanity. This is my unapologetic yet humble offering to inspire, motivate and help steer our collective ship towards the calmer waters of empathy, equality, sustainability and truth.” - Timothy Conley

Zen calligraphy artists believe “true creativity is not the product of consciousness but rather the "phenomenon of life itself." True creation must arise from mu-shin 無心, the state of "no-mind," in which thought, emotions, and expectations do not matter.”

“One must focus intensely and become one with the meaning of the characters they create. In order to do this, one must free one's mind and heart of disturbances and focus only on the meaning of the character.”

I believe music to be the same. Eternally grateful for opportunities to create like this along with these very gifted musicians. A very magical Night 1 from @redrocksco in April is up on Trevor’s YouTube.

$Impossible to articulate what John Coltrane has meant to me. A shining north star in melody, harmony, discipline and spiritual fortitude. On his 100th birthday it is safe to say he has been the same for countless other humans and has raised the frequency of this planet immeasurably. Looking back at the very 1st thing I ever released under the MAST moniker. My 2012 reimagining of Coltrane’s Meditations album using all samples from the 1965 record. Up for free on Bandcamp for those looking to explore. Happy Birthday Mr. John Coltrane and thank you! MAST /\\\ John Coltrane: Meditations “This EP reinterprets John Coltrane’s complete 1965 album Meditations. Samples, loops and sounds from the original recording are carefully selected and reshaped with added electronic and acoustic elements. MAST recorded subtle guitar, bass, cello and violin, while saxophonist and poet Elliott Levin contributes spoken word to “Love.” The project honors not only Coltrane’s music, but also his spiritual devotion, discipline and willingness to push sonic boundaries.” TRACK LISTING 1.
