32K later and still standing.

As a road runner, @_mattchandler_ used to packs and pace groups. Out here, it was different. Long solo stretches, quiet trails, and runners who made the terrain look like home. Comfortable being uncomfortable.

The Salomons did their part. His feet felt fresh. The trail? Not so forgiving.

Is this the end of his trail era? Never say never.

Race day at the @whistlerhalf this past weekend with @_mattchandler_ and @salomonrunning.

For his first trail race, this one didn’t hold back. Gravel climbs, long quiet stretches with nothing but trees, breath, and the sound of your shoes. It was a challenge from the jump and eye opening in the best way.

But the views showed up too. Wide open backdrops of Whistler’s mountains that made the effort feel worth it.

Matt’s still got more ahead, but this was an intro to what 32K on trail feels like.

Our very own @_mattchandler_ , Assistant Manager and Run Specialist, is tackling his first trail race tomorrow at the @whistlerhalf by @salomonrunning.

He’s no stranger to road races, but this is new ground. First time off-road. First time running 32km. He’s lacing up in the Salomon Aero Glide 3 GRVL to see how they handle the switch from pavement to dirt.

The course winds through wide gravel paths, with a few punchy climbs and stretches of singletrack. The kind of race that looks easy on paper, then sneaks up on your legs. But the payoff is worth it. Rainbow Mountain, Mount Cook, and Mount Currie all show up.

Matt’s been training on flats and rolling hills, so tomorrow’s a whole new kind of challenge. We’ll check in from the trail and give you a glimpse into what 32km in Whistler really feels like. taken in Whistler, Canada by @_mattchandler_
