Thinking about Coach Lee Corso as today is his last College GameDay appearance. He is a true icon—especially to us who’ve worn the mascot head. They say, ‘Don’t meet your heroes,’ but Coach has been every bit the gem you’d hope for. His kindness and encouragement have meant the world to me, and I’ll always be grateful for the way he cheered me on as I chased my dreams. by @_matthewperkins

Beyond grateful that my film 'Fortune' has been selected for @thegotham Project Market—the longest-running independent film market in the U.S.—as part of their Shorts to Features program.

This project has been a labor of love, and I’m incredibly thankful to @thegotham for recognizing its potential. Huge shoutout to my co-writer and star @naponacott, whose heart and talent have helped shape this story into something truly special.

I’ve been developing 'The Mascot' for years and made a deliberate choice not to rush it—waiting for the right partners rather than compromising the vision. In the meantime, I’ve learned that you have to juggle in this industry. You never know which ball will take flight first.

'Fortune' has already had a meaningful festival run, and this opportunity is an exciting next step. Can’t wait to see what’s ahead. 🙏🏻 by @_matthewperkins

The Luminary Award recognizes achievements in storytelling through film and television. This alum embodies our core values of creativity, community, diversity & inclusivity, and collaboration. We are so happy to award him with this honor. 🏆🎥💙

Matthew discovered his passion for storytelling as early as high school. After graduating from UGA in 2006, he moved to New York City where he was a PA and intern before he begin making his own short films (Magic Juan and Life in Short). Matthew’s debut feature, The Little Tin Man, which he co-wrote, directed, and produced, became one of the first Kickstarter projects to raise over $100,000. His debut was critically acclaimed and won awards from many top festivals. Matthew is also a prolific documentary filmmaker, having partnered with social justice organizations and interviewed various well-known figures. His content has been featured on top outlets throughout the years. In Athens, Matthew co-founded Play to Win Entertainment, a production company committed to expanding the film ecosystem in Georgia. The company is currently developing a slate of films and television series. Through their latest project, Fortune, Matthew is helping create opportunities for UGA students and local talent to gain hands-on experience in professional film production.
