payday 2/3!

our payday routine as a married couple in our 30s paying off debt and this is not at all how we handled our money and finances in the past.

but with a simple budget, a plan, and taking one small step at a time, 18 months later here we are.

we couldn’t do this as smoothly as we are without our high yield checking account with @trycrew !! if you’re curious about how your money in your checking account can do more for you than just sit there and look pretty (or ugly 😂) comment MONEY and I’ll send you some info 🫡

follow along for more financial and income transparency, debt payoff, and the lessons we are learning along the way!

social media is really good at convincing us that we need the next viral product or latest must have or trending whatever.

I’m here to say…we may have exactly what we need already. we just need to open our eyes and look around a little more.

sometimes, SOMETIMES, the answers to our problems don’t always require a fee.

please don’t come at me Costco lovers 😅

we still very much love Costco but I think it’s a genuine question and I’d love to do the math and see where we actually land based on what we buy and how often we go on a monthly basis.

let me know if I should reveal the results 👀

christmas sinking fund is officially underway! 🎄

we use Crew for our high-yield checking account and digital pockets, which make it easy to set money aside for upcoming expenses before they sneak up on us.

we set a $1,200 goal for Christmas and are saving $240 per paycheck to reach it!

set up your own sinking funds using the link in my bio to check out Crew!

feeling nervous about sharing this 😬

my content is not going to revolve around his career and my husband won’t be any more involved in my content than he already is. it’s still my account and he’d still rather not be in the content regularly.

I feel like I can share more openly about our finances now that I’ve shared his job. I can explain more about how he’s able to earn such high income.

I will not be talking about who he works for and will not respond to guesses (he still wants to maintain a level of privacy and abide by his company’s social media boundaries).

many of you were right :) not as cool as an undercover spy, but eh, what can ya do 🤷🏼‍♀️

fall edition 😂🎃🍂

the question I ask myself when I’m faced with a potential impulse purchase:

“do I actually want this or do I just want the feeling I think buying it would give me?”

it’s a hard pattern to break out of. especially with the holidays right around the corner.

what’s helped you overcome impulse purchases?

I messed up 😅

we moved $304 into savings and the OTHER $304 into TRAVEL. (because 40% of $1,518 is $608.)

so technically we’ve got $2,004 remaining.

maaaaaathhhhh…amiright?

should I break down our bills next?? I feel like I’m gonna get DRAGGED for the amount of subscriptions we have 😅

so many of you asked what I make to help us stick to our grocery budget so here it is! one of my top fav meals I make on rotation. should I share more??

Budget friendly high protein southwest turkey bowls!
About $1.73 per serving (depending on cost of ingredients where you live.)

Ingredients:
1lb ground turkey (or ground beef or chicken)
2 medium sweet potatoes
1-2 cans of black beans
Rice (however much you want to make 😂)
Chili powder 1 tbsp
Onion powder 1 tbsp
Garlic powder 1 tbsp
Paprika 1 tsp
Cumin 1/2 tsp
(Measure with your heart for the seasonings)

Optional:
Mild salsa (I like to mix it into the cooked meat)
Sour cream (for topping)
Shredded cheese (for topping)
Sriracha

Peel and cut your sweet potatoes into small cubes, season with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika (if you want). Airfry for 15-20 minutes at 425 F (you can also cook in the oven at 400F for about 25 minutes).

Rinse and drain your black beans and set aside.

Brown your meat and add your seasonings. Add in the black beans. You can add in some salsa or sriracha or even a splash of chicken stock or some diced tomatoes so the meat doesn’t get dry. This recipe is fool proof and hard to mess up!

When the sweet potatoes are done add them into the pan with the beans and meat. Mix well!

Serve over rice with sour cream, cheese, salsa, hot sauce, jalapeños, truly whatever you want! ENJOY.

my husband and I have everything we need.

we are clothed, fed, housed…yes we have debt. a lot of debt.

but we have more than enough. $500 isn’t a crazy amount of money, but it’s what I have to give. and I want to give it.

more money and no debt won’t automatically turn me into a charitable, giving person. i have to start now.

❤️

raise your hand if social media made you feel like you needed all new fall decor this year?? 🙋🏼‍♀️

this is your reminder that what you have is enough.

it’s okay if you can only decorate the living room, or the kitchen, or the dining room. it’s okay that things aren’t perfect or aesthetic. it’s okay if none of your decor matches. it’s okay if you thrifted your decor.

it’s also okay if you felt a desire to buy something you saw someone else use. or added things you thought you needed for fall decor into your Amazon cart.

fall is the start of a long holiday season where we are going to see more and more curated decor and Amazon links and lists showing us the trending decor and seasonal styles.

no one can keep up with trends. it’s impossible. and truthfully do any of us even want to?? not me.

you’re doing great. what you have is enough.
