Got invited to the FDCI (fashion design council of India) Indian Men’s Fashion Week, my first ever experience at an event like this, and it sparked more than I expected.

Coming from a long career in medical science, choosing fashion was never about glamour. Being in that space, seeing Indian fashion honoured for its craft, discipline, history, and the people behind the garments, reminded me why I made that shift in the first place.

In India, clothing has always been deeply human shaped by land, labour, and lived experience. When approached with intention, it speaks far beyond borders and feels especially relevant in a world tired of speed and sameness.

Feeling grateful to be part of Townsville Youth Fest with Townsville City Council, where Woven Visions will be facilitating a hands-on block printing workshop for over 300 young people, introducing a traditional process of creating patterns on fabric using carved wooden blocks.

Alongside the workshop, a talk will explore the journey from uni to building a purpose-led business, sharing reflections on choosing a path shaped by creativity, intention, and conscious work rather than convention.

The workshop itself will focus on block printing as a slow, mindful creative practice encouraging presence, focus, and self-expression through working with hands and material.

Together, the sessions highlight creativity as both a process and a perspective something that can ground, connect, and open new ways of thinking.

“The Premier of Queensland, David Crisafulli”, it was an absolute honour to meet you at India Fest and be part of a celebration that represents what makes Queensland so special: diversity, inclusion, connection and opportunity.

For Woven Visions, this moment carries a special meaning. Our vision is about bringing people, cultures, ideas and opportunities together much like the diverse communities that make up Queensland.

As someone who proudly embraces both my cultural roots and the opportunities Australia has given me, I believe our uniqueness makes our communities stronger. Australia gives us the space to celebrate where we come from while building something meaningful together. 🇦🇺🤝🌏

Handmade clothing asks us to look beyond the price tag and see what actually goes into a piece.

The time.
The patience.
The skill.
The hands behind every detail.

Fast fashion has made instant and inexpensive feel normal. But craftsmanship was never meant to be rushed.

So maybe the better question isn’t, “Why does handmade cost more?”

It’s “Why have we stopped valuing the work behind what we wear?

I think we talk a lot about chasing dreams, but not enough about what it feels like when the dream gets heavy.

When you’re the one responsible for every decision, every risk, every little thing that works and every little thing that doesn’t.

Some days, the uncertainty gets loud.

Today was one of those days for me.

But I’m learning that a difficult day doesn’t mean I’m on the wrong path. Sometimes it just means I’m human, and I care deeply about what I’m building.

So tonight, I’m giving myself permission to not have all the answers.

Tomorrow, I’ll show up again.

A little wiser.
A little stronger.
And still believing in the dream. 🤍
