I’m so in love with these new textured collage pieces. Months in the making, the process of paring back the textures, shapes and colors to their essence has led me to appreciate their beauty even more. The HOLIDAY SHOP is open! We are starting to get in a festive mood over here. My youngest is counting the days until Thanksgiving because I have a no-holiday-music-until-the-day-after-thanksgiving rule. I just like to appreciate one thing at a time. And speaking of appreciation - these pieces in the holiday collection are at their essence, all about appreciation. Each piece features one color, one shape, one texture. And by paring the design down to just these three things I discovered that I noticed the details and subtleties even more. It’s a little bit of holiday magic. "Summer Morning 6a.m." went to a beautiful home recently. The collector found it at my gallery in Burmingham, AL. It's strange to think about all these paintings, these pieces of my heart floating around out there - a part of people's lives and homes. I don't really know where most of them end up. So when a collector takes the time to send a photograph of the piece in their home (as this one did) I am always thrilled. If you are a collector of art, anyone's art, just know the artist would love to see where their art ends up. it means a lot to us. . . . . by @_mia_white

I’m turning fifty this week. I keep waiting for that to feel heavy and instead it feels like the opposite, like a gift that turned out to be your favorite even if you didn’t know you wanted it. A friend told me that the reality check comes at 51, so I guess we’ll see ;) I’ve spent much of the past decade making things with my hands. At the beginning it felt reckless and daring. A career built on paint and instinct with no guarantee any of it would work out. But it did work out. And even if it has changed shape and color along the way, it is still working out now. I think about the version of me who started this, unsure if anyone would ever care about the work, let alone show up for it the way you have. You’ve bought paintings that now live in your homes. You’ve sent me photos of them on your walls. You’ve stuck around through quiet times and studio struggles. I want you to know that’s not something I take for granted. Grateful doesn’t quite cover it, but it’s the closest word I’ve got. So here’s to the next chapter of whatever this is. Thank you for being here. by @_mia_white
