Happy 14 years to my JoeJoe!

The one who can frustrate me one minute and have me laughing the next. Thank you for loving me and leading our family well.

JoeJoe, thanks for being the best daddy to Cohen and Annalee.

They always know they can count on you. You still get up in the middle of the night to read the Bible or your book The Farmer and the Five Seeds, to help them fall back asleep. You’ve taught Cohen how to fish and always show up when he needs you. And you’ve even learned new cheers and stunts with Annalee, which is super sweet and hilarious.

Last day of FIFTH & SEVENTH grade!!!!

Annalee had a hard time knowing this would be her last week at Longfellow. Next year she will be in junior high and excited to be back in the same school as her bubby again. by @_michelleraby

My Cohen Boy is 13. 💛

And it’s taken me a few days to even sit down and write this because it still doesn’t feel real.

Years ago, before he was born and into his toddler years, a friend and I worked together to write and release my story in a book. It was never really about writing a book. It was more about healing, processing life, and trying to make sense of where God had brought me and the kind of life and love I prayed my future children would always know.

Looking back now, I realize so many of those pages were filled with prayers for Cohen before I ever even held him.

In the pages, I prayed he would always know he was loved. That he would feel safe and secure. That he would never question his worth or wonder if he belonged.

And now the little boy I wrote about is 13.

He’s competitive and passionate about everything he does. Strong minded. Sensitive underneath the toughness. One minute he’s talking basketball, the next fishing, and the next brainstorming some side business idea.

Reading those old pages now feels emotional because back then I thought I was writing about healing and becoming a mom. I didn’t understand yet how much this my son would become part of my healing too.

Now he’s as tall as me, constantly eating, dreaming big, figuring out who he is, and slowly becoming a young man right in front of my eyes.

There’s something wild about watching your answered prayers grow up right in front of you.
