Supporting their sophomore album Alien Love Songs, which reached #10 on the National Earshot! Jazz Charts, Midnight Channel blends the boundary-pushing spirit of 1960s cosmic free jazz with contemporary post-bop, Japanese fusion, and neo-soul grooves. Their live shows move between deep grooves, open improvisation, and moments that feel completely unplanned.

Jake and the Kid is an Indie Rock band from Regina, Canada. by @_midnight_channel_

Hello @_midnight_channel_ enjoyers! I had the distinct pleasure of designing a run of posters for the band's fall 2026 shows. Here they are in reverse order of creation.

My directive was to 'have fun and go wild with design.' I'm not sure how wild these are, but I did indeed have fun! It was a privilege to experiment for a band that's clearly very good at experimentation.

As Bald Gopher Press, I've been practicing the craft of letterpress printing for three years. Setting type by hand, locking up the form, ensuring accurate registration, these have all informed the gig posters you see before you. It turns out you learn a lot doing things slowly and meticulously. Principles of graphic design become more obvious when you've got a limited selection of typefaces and you've spent hours setting everything up only for it to turn out like crap!

I've included two looks at my letterpress printing work at the end of this carousel. Thanks for the interest!

✦ 1 year of alien love songs ✦

✧ last year we released our second album. a record about connection, and disconnection. about what it means to reach out—and what to do when there’s nothing reaching back.

✧ but throughout the last year, we’ve experienced

✦ s̶̯͖̪̔̕ȏ̸̖͝ ̵̥͋͝m̸̡̍̊͊ú̴̞c̴͙̗̻̏h̵͓̤̜̉̈́͒ ✦

reaching back from you all - thank you for letting us into your lives to share our music with you.
