FOCUS ARTISTE

Mila Figuet
@_milamour

at Boisé Steinberg
for @angles.of.consequence
14 june 2025

We gathered at Boisé Steinberg, an unruly woodland adjacent to Rue Hochelaga, for a site-specific installation and performance. Through the medium of reflected sunlight, we celebrated the boisé and the many efforts to protect it by its community while navigating ecological mourning, memory, and collective action.

It was a really, really good day.

Thank you @culturenaturestructure and the entire research & production team for your help in all its forms over the past year.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and trusted us to participate.

Thanks as well for support from LePARC, the Milieux Institute, SSHRC, & CALQ.

During the March 8, 2024, demonstration in Mexico City, I organized a performance inviting participants to scream with me. We screamed out of frustration, fear, joy, and solidarity—but most of all, out of exhaustion and rage.

180,000 people. 3 hours of screaming.

That day, I was reminded of the vital force of anger—its capacity to unite and its transformative power. Many of us are denied access to this emotion when we have SO MUCH to be angry about. Anger is the emotion that best protects us from injustice. We need to feel it and use it.

I’m bringing this intervention back to Montreal this year. Saturday, March 8, at 5 PM. DM me for the location.

A gigantic thank you to Alex and Gemma, Leonora for being my superwomen.
