Here's one of our visitors Billy and his wife Susan who came to me for advice on what Mobile phone to buy.

Billy and Susan are not technically au fait and therefore what they need is a dumb phone. I recommended the good old reliable Nokia phones. Unfortunately, Billy and Susan's generation got left behind and their concern was that if something happened to either of them that they could be in touch with each other but they are completely baffled by smartphones. I could empathise with this because my parents only have a landline as well.

What does today teach us?
Take a step back and remember who came before us. Sit down and listen. Don't try to force someone to do something they don't have any interest in.

My favourite saying is K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. If all I want to do is make calls then why should I bother with a smartphone? I ensured they explained to the sales person that since they are selling them a phone they should have a chance to give it a test drive so they spend their hard earned money on a device that actually fits their needs.
