The Humans Behind Career Fair '26

What made it all the more interesting was that I really wasn't doing this alone.
I had people who just got it.

People who saw what needed to be done and did it. People who asked questions when something didn't make sense, stepped in when things got a little crazy, and somehow kept things moving even when we were all thinking about how to pull this off.

Up until yesterday, I was still thinking “Wait… we actually did this?”

I worked with such amazing people and I'm really grateful for everyone of them.

Career Fair ’26 was definitely a lesson in leadership and relationship for me.
And I'm still unpacking everything it taught me. by @_msroberts

I think I’m finally ready to talk about Career Fair ’26.

Because what happened on Saturday was a 6-hour event.
But it was also weeks of planning, countless conversations, meetings, follow-ups, last-minute changes, problem-solving, and a whole lot of “okay, how do we make this work?” 😂

And somehow, on Saturday, I stood in that room and watched it all come alive.
I saw people who had been searching for jobs finally sitting across from employers.
I saw young professionals asking questions about their careers.
I saw people walk up to booths, introduce themselves, submit their CVs and have conversations that would have been almost impossible to have from behind a screen.
I saw people who couldn't make it to Port Harcourt join from different locations online.

That is what makes me proud of the Career Fair.
Not just that, we had over 1000 persons plugged in
But that we created a place where people could access opportunities, meet people, learn, ask, pitch themselves and be seen.

I'm incredibly grateful to the Global Head of Light Nation Community Groups, @dr.kobs for the opportunity to serve; to the Resident Pastor of Light Nation Port Harcourt @thejacobodunlami for the constant prayers, teachings and making room for us to thrive; to the South-South Regional Head of Light Nation Community Groups @amaibigeorge for entrusting us with this assignment; and to my Co-Head of HR Community @olumayowa_becca thank you for carrying your share of this with me. There were many moving parts, and knowing I had someone equally invested in getting this right mattered.

I'm so glad I get to live out the word being taught at @lightnationph

And to the entire CF team, employers, speakers, panelists, partners, sponsors and everyone who contributed in ways big and small, you helped make this possible.

I walked away from Career Fair ’26 with a deeper understanding of what leadership can create when people are willing to do the work.
I’m proud of what we built.
More importantly, I’m grateful I got the opportunity to build it.
And this is only the beginning. by @_msroberts

What makes a professional valuable beyond the job title?

That’s one of the questions Favour Roberts brings to Career Fair ’26.

As an HR Consultant, she has worked across technology, education, real estate, construction, agriculture and other sectors, helping organisations strengthen their people, processes and performance.

She also works directly with professionals on career development, positioning and building the capabilities that keep them relevant in a competitive workforce.

So when she takes the stage, expect more than career advice. Expect practical insight into what it takes to become the professional opportunities can’t easily overlook.

Earlier today, my team asked for a picture of me to use on a design.
I didn’t want to send one, so they went all FBI because they knew I didn't really fancy it 😄

Not because I’m shy or timid. I just don’t really enjoy putting my face out there. Never have.
And honestly, I’m still figuring out why.

I’ve always been more comfortable doing the work in the background.
Letting results speak louder than my presence.
I believe in building first, in doing the work so well that it announces itself.

But I’m learning that sometimes boldness is allowing yourself to be seen when the assignment requires it.

Because if Scripture is true...and it is..
a light set on a hill can not be hidden.
Not forever. Not when it’s time.

Plus maybe this isn’t about changing who I am.
Maybe it’s just about accepting that hiding was never the instruction.😊✨️

So once I break loose from the shackles of perfection, it's gonna be over😄
Till then, I'll take it one step at a time. by @_msroberts

Because silence has never healed anyone.

Some days, it’s not that you’re lazy.
You’re just tired... mentally, emotionally, spiritually.
You show up, but not fully.
You smile, but it feels rehearsed.
You work, but it feels heavy.

And that’s okay.

We talk about productivity like it’s proof of worth.
But what about peace?
What about balance?
What about rest?

Mental health isn’t weakness.
It’s awareness.
It’s knowing when to push and when to stop.
It’s learning that burnout doesn’t make you a high performer,
It just makes you human... exhausted.

So today, do something kind for your mind.
The world runs better when you’re okay.

They said, 'Go where you are valued,' so I ran to God all year. In His presence, I found peace, purpose, and unfailing love. Here’s to ending the year with gratitude and starting the next with Him. 🖤🩶 by @_msroberts
