First sighting of #chanterelles ! #redchanterelles , aka #cinnabar ...smaller, brighter. And also delicious! They grow in the same spots throughout my yard every year. Cantharellus cinnabarinus.

I love coral mushrooms, especially up close. Love that ✨️texture✨️

I have 3 different coralish lookin guys here, though the last is actually a jelly fungi! All found in southern NH. Some corals and jellies are considered edible, but I don't dabble in them often. The thought of cleaning a dirty coral for cooking stresses me out 🤣

Some pretty mushies...I am always so excited to these purple guys (cortinarius iodes), even with them not being edible or medicinal!

Slippery caps are pretty, too (suillus spraguei) - edible, but not great lol.

I often look through my endless trove of old mushroom pics during my winter depressive hibernative state.. Came across these photos of some old dried up "Old Man of the Woods" mushrooms, and was drawn to the texture. Looking forward to being out in the cycle of life come spring. (southern NH, August 2021)

It's me, in the forest.

And a random selection of mushroom pics! I can't wait to get a new camera. I love looking at the interesting details in nature at both the macro and micro level, but I can never capture what I'm experiencing..

So much lichen and moss, all found in a little patch of yard in Southern NH.

The yellow lichen that looks like yellow mushrooms is always a delight to find. "Fairy Lichen", it is called. I like to think it grows after fairies have visited a spot ✨️
(more accurately, maybe it's where fairies partied... because people call this lichen "Fairy puke" 😆)

Lichen is so fascinating, because it's not exactly a plant nor a fungus - but organisms that are made up of algae and multiple fungi. They are often a sign of healthy ecosystems since they can not grow in environments with much air pollution. Because of this, they are great bio-indicators.

I'd love any help identifying the lichen and moss present in these photos. So far:
* "Fairy Puke Lichen" aka "Candy Lichen" - Icmadophila ericetorum
* "British soldier lichen" - Cladonia cristatella
* Cladonia Pulvinata
