Love how this turned out! On letter paper with pencils. Chickadees have cute fuzzy faces by @_nachr_

✨May Apple appreciation post✨

May Apple (Podophyllum peltatum) can be found in damp soils of deciduous forests.

Something cool about this species is it clones itself from rhizome root networks! Also a yummy snack for box turtles 🐢 by @_nachr_

Rare find!!!

Was out walking some wetlands today. Spotted a few mayflies perched on the underside of boxelder leaves.

Mayflies spend most of their lifecycle in the water as nymphs. Nymphs undergo a series of molts for months, sometimes a year or more. From the final molt the dun stage emerges with wings. Soon after, duns find a sheltered spot nearby to undergo a final molt. Within 24 hours, the spinner stage emerges. Very cool to see this adult mayfly freshly molted! by @_nachr_
