MAINTENANCE DIARIES — EP. 02 🤎

A little foundation diary because apparently I’ve been shade-matching myself incorrectly this whole time. 😂

I went to @cattsbeaute to try the new @fentybeauty Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex Foundation, the replacement for the discontinued Pro Filt’r Matte Foundation, and I was genuinely shocked to find out that my shade is 436N, not the 436W I thought I was. Turns out, knowing your undertone matters!

Your undertone, skin type and the finish you actually want from your makeup all play a role in finding a foundation you’ll actually enjoy wearing. And remember: oily skin doesn’t mean you have to wear matte, and dry skin doesn’t mean you have to wear dewy. Know your skin, then choose what works for you.

The foundation? Absolutely spectacular. 🤌🏾

MAINTENANCE DIARIES — EP. 01 ✂️

I’ve realised that wig customization needs to go way beyond just plucking and bleaching the knots. If you have a specific face shape, a particular look you love, or you just want your wig to have more personality, layers can make such a difference. So I took my wig to @sonalivallabh at @maggshairsalon to have it properly assessed and layered specifically for my face.

Especially with raw hair, I think a proper consultation is so important. Your stylist should be looking at the density, volume, moisture, texture and how the hair naturally falls before deciding where to cut. You want the wig to work with your face and the way you actually wear your hair — not just look good on a wig stand.

And don’t be afraid to lose a little hair in the process! Sometimes taking off a bit of length or removing some density is exactly what gives you a better shape. The right layers will frame your face whether you’re wearing the hair straight or curled, and honestly, there’s something about hair that’s cut specifically for you that makes you feel so much more confident.

I’m also learning to treat my wigs like they’re actually part of my hair. Trim the ends, maintain the quality, assess the hair and don’t wait until it’s looking tired to take care of it. Longevity comes from maintenance, not just buying good hair.

NAT NAVIGATES The MC : EPISODE 2
If you know me, you know that I love speaking, teaching, yapping and generally just connecting to people and making people laugh. The second entry in the diary of NatNavigates the MC was a last-minute booking and let me be honest. I was so nervous but something in me just said I should get up and get it done. That something was God. In the midst of MCing with the little experience that I do have, I have come to find that I was struggling to put a pin down on my voice, my style of MC as well as just the general fear of people understanding me and getting to know a crazy character like mine because let’s be honest you either love it or you hate it. In this episode two I chose to put all of those voices away to cancel all of the noise as the original Nat Navigates has told us to and it paid off completely. I had the best time doing this job and it felt like I was in a room with my sisters and my job was just to carry the program and to make them laugh and that is exactly what happened. Thank you so much to Luxe Hair Collection@luxe_hair_collection_ for choosing me and please make sure to book me for your next event because I will not let you down!
