On Christmas Eve, just over a year ago, I delivered three compositions to my client and her family, in South London. As we were invited in, I felt like I had stepped into a colourful wonderland; their home really was a vision of the most tasteful and joyful surfaces, fittings, details, well, everything.
That’s half the story.
A few days ago, photographer @_nataubry_ began to follow my account and sent a message. Was I the person who made this artwork? When I saw her image, I knew exactly whose house that was. My client had worked with Interior Designer @natbournedesign to create for her family, the home of their (and my) dreams. Natalie had subsequently worked with Nat to do the shoot in my client’s house.
And here we are…. a piece I created with my clients’ husband’s stamps, saved for him by his Dad when he was a child, to grace the walls of a very very special place indeed.

Throwback to the shots back in December for the @shamestudios x @furnishingfutures rugs. Probably the biggest teamwork effort I have been involved in! Complete with Emma, the Shame studios gorgeous 🐶. So cute!

We’ve been fortunate enough to visit the Peckham flat of artist Tom Davies a few times; a home he and his partner Emma have created with cool retro style. Then there is Tom’s studio; always full of tantalising works in progress - who doesn’t enjoy seeing workspaces like these? All this has been wonderfully conveyed by the incredibly talented Photographer Nat Aubry, who also - it just so happens - has one of Tom’s landscape paintings in her own home. A collaborative meeting of creative minds of the best kind.

I realise that I have not share any portrait for a bit of time! Not my portrait, we are not there yet.. but this fun session with @arti_ones duo Tess and Gretchen. You will remember Tess’s very arty and eclectic London flat from a few posts ago on my grid. It was a lifestyle session as well as portrait session. At some point everyone needs a portrait. This, of course, does not apply to me 🤣. I am truly best behind the camera!

I should be going to the Decorative Fair next week, not sure when, but who is going? Have a great Sunday everyone!

Yes I am definitely all about half term! Showing places I am not going to, this year (but been to!). So here we have - probably one of my list liked picture on Pinterest - HAY-ON-WYE aka the Town of Books - which is totally up my street, less so for my family.

But one can always hope that exposing them to culture means they will retain something from it! And you have to be impressed when the whole town is about books. We stayed @hayonwyecottage, which is perfectly located 2 mns from the centre of town, and has a real vintage vibe to it. We did have the car and managed to see some iconic houses… Did not meet Jean.. but seeing her house was enough.

Admittedly it is a bit further afield for us, however there is nothing quite like a vibrant town - full of books. In France we bave Becherel. It is just not the same. This is lived-in with lovely cafes and restaurants.

From last year’s shoot @shamestudios - from a concept dreamt up by @annasheridan_creative to reality, some BTS and a few composites (making the most of that one chair for sure!). I shoot now with more and more people involved - it is quite different, there are just so many more ideas to explore, or discuss.. Anyway this shoot is also a reminder I need to have a better rug game. And it might be a nice way to add some colours 🤔.

Will i ever be able to stop posting about @charlestontrust house in Firle.. hmm unlikely. I have been desperate to see it forever and I could not believe it when I was there. So no. But it is worth it, right? If you have not been, this is your reminder to visit. You feel the vibes of the Bloomsbury Group (maybe less of the marital arrangements - and yet they are there too). So much art inspo. I cna try to describe it, but you really need to feel it.

I have a bit of an obsession with red ❤️ accents. I might have a few too many testers at home for frames and furniture… and yes nothing is done yet.

So in the meantime I give you some beautifully placed reds shot for @natashanotarastudio in this beautiful London home. The right mix of elegance and rustic vibe, I mean that kitchen island! More reds please.

Cannot recommend going yo Hambleden for the weekend enough! Mainly because you will see the locations of SO many films (Nanny McPhee, Band of Brothers… and if you got to Turville next door, the Vicar of Dibley). Secondly it is as pretty as the pictures. If you are still like having a certain idea of Britain through the lens of a foreigner - this is it! And for us it is only an hour away, absolute winner. You might need a car though!

I found a little ‘cottage’ next to the garage and the pub (but everything is near the pub or church really). It is ok. Quirky colour scheme, but pleasant enough - except that you are at the end of the garden of another Airbnb. So a bit weird. I was last minute though.. and the kids loved it. I am really the fussy one when it comes to Airbnb!

Do not mind me catching up on travel and shoots that happened more than a month ago! Now that the proper holiday is over, and therefore I am planning our next holiday, I am all go for posting about being away.

DIY Marc and I went a couple of nights to the other end of Hertfordshire and met Margo. She is in the middle of a field, secluded, and unplugged. She challenged me with some old fashioned tapes - I had forgotten you had to turn them to listen to the B-side.. We went on walks .. to the pub. Where else when you do not have the kids? It was lovely - and less than an hour from home, which is a winner. @unplugged.rest has loads of options around the country, you can get away from your own county!

Back with Bruce 🐕 - the dog with all the right vibes - and some green interiors love 💚 on the grid. Kids are litterally a day away from being back at school. Both on the same day, which is a result. It has been a great summer - went so fast this year- but I am ready for a routine. And have some uninterrupted time to work. I am also hoping that the September weather will still be nice to finish off some DIY jobs (currently taking space in our garage).
