Podcast Series 032 – Droneghost ( @_nigul_ )

Welcome to our podcast. This time we bring you a Spanish artist, Dj and Producer.

Droneghost is the main musical project of Jaume Muntsant, a producer and DJ from Barcelona. Active in various musical projects since 1998, he launched Droneghost in 2015 after completing his studies in sound, creating a dark sonic universe where techno merges with ambient and drone.

Inspired by the works of David Lynch, H.P. Lovecraft and Spanish ghost folklore, his music explores hypnotic soundscapes, immersive textures and deeply atmospheric storytelling. His releases have appeared on labels including Circular Limited, Aarden Records and Systolic, while also maintaining an independent catalog through Bandcamp and contributing to numerous podcast series and experimental electronic music platforms.

Alongside Droneghost, Jaume has developed Nigul since 2005, an ambient and drone project focused on field recordings and generative processes. Since 2012 he has hosted the weekly radio show Núvol de Fum, dedicated to these sonic explorations, and since 2020 he has been part of Audiotalaia, a platform promoting ambient, experimental and electronic music through online streaming, where he regularly performs live ambient sets.

For this edition of MUTE, Droneghost delivers a journey where techno, ambient and drone intertwine into an immersive listening experience, driven by tension, depth and an ever-evolving sonic narrative.

Enjoy the journey.

‘Andhera’, darkness in sanskrit.

Where there’s darkness, we will find light...

With every Full Moon I will present a new artist which I highly admire, respect and who embodies and understands the dark, ambient and hypnotic side of techno.

The Full Moon is a time of blossom and highlights.
The Full Moon equals the spiritual and energetic culmination.

When the Full Moon has passed, the Waning Moon phase begins. This is the time to let go what no longer serves you.

On May 1th, we had a Full Moon in the mysterious and intense sign of Scorpio. Directly opposite to it, the Sun is in the sign of Taurus. During this Full Moon, a tension arises between these two signs, as they are true opposites.

Scorpio isn’t afraid of a little darkness. In fact, this sign prefers to dive right into it. Scorpio has no interest in superficiality, masks, or smooth talk. During this lunar phase, you’re invited to truly feel what lies beneath the surface. What have you been hiding all this time? Scorpio wants to get to the bottom of things, even if it’s a little uncomfortable.

Under the influence of Scorpio, all sorts of things may come to the surface. You might feel the urge to push them away, but it’s better not to. They’re surfacing for a reason. You need to do something with them. Now is exactly the time to address everything you’ve buried deep inside. How you deal with whatever emerges is up to you. You can write about it, get creative, or finally have that conversation with that one person… Anything goes, as long as it feels right to you.

Travelling through dark and ethereal soundscapes, combining breaks and deep driving grooves, the Barcelonian master of hypnosis @_nigul_ better know as Droneghost, who doens’t need any introduction whatsoever, will guide us through this month’s intense episode.
