I provide an ethical alternative to generative AI and event photography, allowing guests at events to remain anonymous in all imagery. No need for dehumanising blurring of faces or shots of the back of people’s heads. Great for impact reports, funding bids and social media. Also in my experience, people enjoy see drawings of themselves being made in real time to it can be added entertainment too :)

It’s not often you get to meet your heroes in real life 🙌😍

I’m still thinking about this beautiful evening at @_nikigroom’s exhibition, and what happens when we make space for stories that are too often reduced to headlines.

I first connected with Niki when she was drawing the situation in the Calais Jungle in 2016. Over the past decade, her work as a reportage artist has highlighted important moments of migration, displacement and freedom of movement in the most considered, sensitive and creative way.

One of those moments was Richard Ratcliffe’s hunger strike outside Parliament, as he campaigned for the release of his wife, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe (photo number 9).

It was a huge honour to sit down with Nazanin and Richard and hear more about what those years actually meant for their family. I imagine most of you are as familiar with Nazanin’s story as I was… Nazanin was imprisoned in Iran for six years, when her daughter Gabriella was just one.

Not just that, we were also joined by the wonderful @roxanavilk, a multidisciplinary artist who got us all singing Iranian songs and, somehow, dancing too.

Art and storytelling will always hold power to do something that facts and headlines alone struggle to - bring us closer to one another as humans. Thank you @_nikigroom for continuing to create spaces for these important stories, conversations and connections. ❤️

Today was a real dream come true, running a fashion illustration workshop in a gallery filled with my artwork.

We started off with a focus on faces, skin tone, hair types and then moved on to a full length illustration of @stephanieyeboah.

Then in the afternoon we were lucky to have @barsha.bhowmick3 dancing so beautifully for us. Everyone focused on capturing movement & mood - the work produced was so great.

Such a brilliant day, thank you to everyone who came along. And thanks to @diverseartistsnetwork & @sayambritamukherjee - without you I wouldn’t have met Barsha :)

My exhibition opens to the public tomorrow from 11-6pm daily, 1st - 8th September.

From 1st - 8th September I’ll be transforming @centrespacegallery , in the heart of Bristol, in to a giant sketchbook for my solo show SEARCHING FOR THE FUTURE. The illustrated stories of people I’ve met over the past decade will adorn the walls, resulting in a colourful display of community. Expect to see larger than life paintings of dancers & musicians, and a celebration of events that bring people together, such as festivals, protests, sport and food.

I’m totally honoured that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe will be with us for our headline event on the Saturday night. During her years in detention in Iran, Nazanin found solace through sewing with her fellow female prisoners, using fabric her husband Richard sent from Liberty of London. This evening is a chance to hear from Nazanin in her own words, and to explore the dynamic between creativity, hope and resilience. We are still working on the finer details of this event, but I can promise it will be really special.

Events will be available to book via Eventbrite 1 July 7pm

The Kensington have introduced a new Afternoon Tea menu so I just wanted to share my now retired illustration. Was so lovely seeing this in print :)
It’s now been replaced with a really fabulous fan inspired menu for the new Marie Antoinette theme. I’m still doing live illustrations on key dates so hope to see you there. by @_nikigroom
