just a few days shy of his 100th birthday, our pup passed away on may 30, 2026 surrounded by the love of all of his pretty girls (his words, not mine ☝🏻) charming us all right until the end.

my entire life was filled with people telling me how amazing my grandfather was. from teachers to strangers who grew up watching him on tv. i was always in awe of how many people knew him and loved to hear the positive impact he made on everyone he met.

our family is all girls except for pup. he was the best girl dad/grandpa and was the biggest kid of us all. he always participated in our skits and routines we would put on at family dinners and while none of us inherited his musical talents we got so many other incredible things from him. his creativity, his humor, and so many life lessons, stories and memories.

like a true pittsburgh icon, he knew the city like the back of his hand and taught all of his girls how to drive. every time we moved or got a new job, we’d go to him for the best route (sometimes he’d even draw a map) he did this for me as recently as last week, but only after asking “why the hell are you going from gibsonia to the southside????”

he loved technology and was a regular at the apple store. two years ago he *insisted* on getting the newest imac when it released. this obsession passed on to me as he got me my first camera and computer, no doubt influencing me into what is now my career.
