Billie Baker | What Do You Do For A Living?
Opening Event | Saturday, 10th October (2-4pm)

‘What Do You Do For A Living?’
‘This body of work focuses on the infinite, cyclical nature of existence juxtaposed with the irony of a capitalist inquiry such as “What do you do for a living?” - a question that seemingly invites a response that is defined by labor and social utility. The work bridges
the exoteric with the esoteric. Through an emphatic, process-driven application of color and the recurring geometry of the circle, these paintings move beyond the transactional world and into the esoteric.
My practice is an act of meditative mapping, where each circular form serves as a vessel for the cyclical nature of existence—a visual manifestation of the belief that life is not a linear path toward an end, but an infinite spiral of becoming. By using a saturation
of colour through painting and sculpture. I aim to translate internal “thought-forms” into a physical experience, reclaiming the word “living” from the mundane and returning it to the divine”

Marina Mason
‘Lightness of Being I, II and III’

‘Lightness of Being’ is an installation made primarily from old paper sewing patterns. This tissue paper is fragile but surprisingly strong. With its criss crossing of lines and symbols the paper comes with its very own drawing language. Based on the construction of Indonesian rod puppets these figures can be manipulated to suggest countless human gestures and emotions.’

Final Days

Heath Nock | Watermelon Eaters
07.08.26 | 21.08.26

Contact the gallery via DM or email for the Catalogue

Created for North Gallery, Watermelon Eaters’ explores the spectacle of consumption through the lens of memory, longing, and the mythology of the Australian summer. This series is entrenched in the nostalgia of summer break: long, hot days suspended in time;
the cooling relief of fresh watermelon; the vivid sensory memory of sticky hands and sun-warmed skin.
Moving through this dreamscape of seasonal memory, viewers are invited to project their own readings onto the work. While Nock’s practice is often interpreted as political, with hidden narratives embedded within brushstroke and form, these works resist singular
resolution.
As a Romani man born into a long lineage of showies, Nock is deeply interested in performance, illusion, and the fragile threshold between delight and unease. Beneath spectacle lies tension: the precarious balance between celebration and survival, pleasure and
uncertainty. Like the games of chance that shape carnival culture, these works hover between joy and a darker undertow.
So sit down, take your slice, and savour the sweetness of this season’s freshest melons’
