Maybe denial isn’t about not knowing.
Maybe it’s about not being ready to accept what we know.

Introducing ____ Our SCL student from Cohort 1

Sunday Faith Ofurie is a visual artist from Edo State, Nigeria. She explores the medium of acrylic on fabric and canvas using mixed media techniques. Her work explores themes of identity, culture, womanhood, and the daily rhythms of life. Inspired by childhood memories, culture, and daily activities around her, she challenges stereotypes and reshapes perceptions of femininity and selfhood through her practice.

Her work aims to provoke thought and inspire awareness around identity, healing, and self-actualisation. She creates to connect with those navigating identity crises or rediscovering themselves, offering her work as both a mirror and a map.

Hi, my name is Ofurie. I am a visual artist from Edo State, Nigeria. I express my art through the medium of acrylic on tote bags, and I look forward to exploring other mediums like canvas and paper.

My work explores themes of identity, culture, womanhood, and the daily rhythm of life. Through my practice, I challenge stereotypes and reshape perceptions of femininity and selfhood.

My art seeks to provoke thought and inspire awareness around identity, healing, and self-actualization. I create to connect with those navigating identity crises or rediscovering themselves, offering my work as both a mirror and a map.

I am particularly drawn to exploring human faces and expressions.

Still learning, still becoming.

Some pieces are not meant to be explained, only felt.

I attended the art exhibition hosted by the @waesummit , held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Conference Center, Abuja. Curated by @nduwhite , the exhibition showcased artworks by various artists from different parts of West Africa.

It was indeed an insightful and mind-blowing experience.
Masterpieces by the ballpoint pen queen, @jacquelinesuowari ❤ and also masterpieces by @slash_euphorian , who transforms Arabic calligraphy into fluid, expressive forms across textured surfaces, among others.

It was a room filled with whispers of identity, emotions, and heritage storytelling in various mediums.

Culture, creativity and connection all in one day.

I attended the @kafart_ng 2025, which was indeed a mind-blowing and insightful event. Creative minds and professionals from different parts of the country came together to appreciate art and showcase creativity. We learned about the business of art, finding your personal style, being your authentic self, and exploring various art mediums all crowned with a beautiful dance performance by @nonstopmoves_

Resident Spotlight: Sunday Faith Ofurie

Meet @_ofurie_ , one of our brilliant Seed for Change Residents. She is an Afrocentric creative, artist, and storyteller. Each day of the residency, she brought good vibes, cultural depth, and her unique voice to life through her pieces. One thing that stood out to us was her pieces; every piece had a story to tell, and she made sure she brought them to life.

Her signature tote bags aren’t just accessories, they’re walking archives of culture, history, and Black excellence.

From Edo State to the walls of our exhibition space, her journey reminds us that when culture meets creativity, impact is inevitable. This is just the beginning. Here’s a visual journey of her time with us☺️😌 by @_ofurie_

Where colors speaks louder than words each stroke tells a story rooted in culture, spirit, and soul.
