@_openwalls and @ucd_basement_gallery, in partnership with the @pencegallery , invite undergraduate students graduating this year with a Bachelor of Arts from UC Davis to apply for a curated group exhibition highlighting emerging voices in contemporary art. 🌷🌷

The exhibition will be open for one day only, with a public reception on June 7, featuring live music, refreshments, and a panel discussion with working artists and creative professionals.🤯 by @_openwalls

Help OpenWalls volunteer at ArtSeed, a non-profit arts organization located in The Presidio!
Celebrate art and the planet with us from 12–6 PM on Saturday April 19 at Tides Converge (rear parking lot entrance, 1016 Torney Ave., San Francisco, CA 94129).

Come make art, take part in a collaborative musical performance and mural with OpenWalls, submit pieces for Spring Open Studios the following week at Hunter’s Shipyard!

Proceeds benefit ArtSeed’s Annual Fine Arts Summer Youth Camp and Presidio Exhibition.

Open Walls presents our first show on 10.11 in collaboration with @drc.creatives at @sudwerkbrew in Davis, California. Join us for an immersive art experience like no other.

We hope to inspire creativity and foster artistic expression within our community and beyond through engaging in community events that celebrate diversity, promote artistic talents and enrich the cultural landscape.

Ian McCue @fun3nuf is a multidisciplinary artist as well as a founding member of Open Walls. Ian invited us into his studio as he prepares for our upcoming show.

“I enjoy fluctuating between different styles and media but I always come back to drawing in my notebooks observing my environment. It makes me feel like a kid, no pressure, hardly looking at the pages, discovering human imperfect forms. I prefer to show the human touch. The lines, blank space, and ambiguity allow my third eye to interpret and project stories and forms in small details creating new meanings and reminders of human interaction.” - Ian McCue

Meet Mariam Tawfik @mariam.orrrr 🎨

We had the opportunity to sit down with MT prior to our Pence Show: Digital Disruption to discuss how she views her art and living a “beautiful life”

MT is a multidisciplinary artist and designer, maker, and crafter. MT’s practice is fueled by a relentless pursuit of innovation and experimentation, drawing inspiration from a myriad of sources and techniques and creative expression. At the core of their practice lies a
deep reverence for the act of creation itself.

They see art making as a sacred and primitive ritual, a channel through which ideas, intuition, and instincts converge. Through their practice, they seek to manifest the raw essence of the human experience. MT is deeply inspired by reclaiming waste, obsolete objects, found objects, often concerned by the material’s history, the people who it belonged to and its inherent legacy. Trash is treasure.
