Towards the end of 2025, as everyone started signing up for the Flying Pig, multiple friends began asking me if I was going to sign up. I would laugh, and brush it off. Eventually, enough people asked me that I actually started considering it. Before I knew it, I was writing down “run flying pig half marathon” as a goal for 2026.

Not only did I accomplish that goal, but a couple of days before the race, I decided that if I was going to do this, I was going to do it sub 2. I never would have considered pushing myself to do this if it weren’t for the community @racestreetathletics has given me (special s/o to @callieann__h for running the whole thing with me). This is your sign to make friends with people who will bully you into doing a half marathon.

Seeing the city streets lined with spectators, cheering on people pushing themselves outside their comfort zone was a beautiful reminder of what a blessing it is to be able to move my body.

I guess it is true what they say… once you’re 25, you either get married, have a kid, or run a half marathon.

From taking a leap of faith by moving across the country to a place I did not know, with no familiar faces, this year brought new beginnings, new experiences, new friends, and a new home.
