What happens when artwork shifts from representing ecological problems to functioning as an ecological tool? Artists working across disciplines to engage with ecological challenges are creating tools that expand how we understand and respond to climate change.

During Climate Week NYC and for the following two weeks, @mesh_art_center in collaboration with @biobat.artspace , presents an exhibition highlighting innovative practices that have generated tools around shade equity, atmospheric adaptation (transforming sunlight into water), and other creative conversions that help aid. The program considers artistic practice as a way for building ecological infrastructure and public pedagogy, where interdisciplinary collaboration gives rise to new forms of environmental literacy and civic imagination. This program demonstrates how creative collaboration can cultivate environmental literacy, build shared infrastructure, and connect artistic practice with climate action.

Official event at #ClimateWeekNYC 2026

Soft Screens is a group exhibition about the interfaces of our hypermediated reality. Featuring artists Nouf Aljowaysir, Anna Frants, Alexandra Lerman, and Mari Nagem, Soft Screens explores the ways digital media subliminally shape our attention, habits, and agency.

Bringing together practices that reflect on emergent technologies without strictly relying on them, Soft Screens traces the outline of our entanglement with ever-evolving digital systems and social structures.

Convening Bodies is a relational and creative research residency bringing artists and practitioners from different disciplines to gather near water—lakes, rivers, seas, and oceans. This residency focuses on expanding engagement with how we relate to bodies of water, the life they support, and one another. It explores how situated studies and new understandings can mediate an ecology of care and inform creative practice.

Founded to support an alternative approach to relational politics in a time of climate and societal emergency, Convening Bodies aims to foster supportive discourse, deep listening, knowledge sharing, restoration, and making.

Convening Bodies' first iteration took place from September 24 to October 2, 2025. It was a two-part, 10-day residency situated on Lummi Island in the Salish Sea, and Grayland, WA, along the Pacific Coast. Ten residents participated, from Canada, the United States, Kenya, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
