Happy day of reading to unlearn the American creation myth of “Independence Day”! Here is a great resource.

In his book “The Counterrevolution of 1776” the great people’s historian Dr. Gerald Horne shows us that the founding fathers and colonists revolted, in great part, to protect the practices of human bondage and white supremacy that their wealth was built upon.

“Medi-Cal cuts cause disabled rage.”

Today, California’s state legislature is expected to vote on the future of tens of thousands of disabled, older, and immigrant Californians.

Medical cuts cause DISABLED RAGE. Don’t cut IHSS!

A group of us lit up a guerrilla projection across the street from the Capitol Annex Swing Space near the capital in Sacramento on June 10th, 2026. Disabled activists and advocates with the #LTSS4All Grassroots Coalition, @hihdomesticemployers projected the powerful messages:
"Medi-cal cuts cause DISABLED RAGE"
"$2000 asset limit for Medi-cal is forced poverty"
"$2000 means pick one:
            car repair
            rent
            root canal
            casket”

Governor Newsom proposes to balance the state budget by, in part, making cuts to Medi-Cal and In Home Supportive Services (IHSS). The proposed Medi-cal cuts impact Crochet directly; as a disabled person, she relies on Medicare and Medicaid (Medi-Cal in CA) to live independently. Additionally, her longtime care workers and their families rely on these programs.

The budget should not be balanced at the expense of the most vulnerable. Rather California - CAN and should - fully fund Medi-cal and IHSS through alternative revenues and closing tax loopholes for wealthy corporations with bills like AB 1790, and AB 2729.

Happy Lunar New Year ♥️
Last year we had the privilege and honor of celebrating the new year with our beloved mentor and now ancestor Alice Wong. Here are some glimpses of one of the most magical weekends of our lives. Love you all.

MPLS Rent Solidarity

In mid December I was visiting dear friends in Minneapolis when my friend got a call from a neighbor to respond to an early morning abduction: ICE ran a woman driving to work off the highway, taking the driver and car keys and leaving a passenger in the car in near zero temperatures. We spent the day helping the family figure out how to get a new key made so they could get the car back. The deportation has left two young children (ages 6 and 1.5) in the country without any parents. The situation in Minneapolis has only gotten worse in the weeks since this abduction and I am raising money to pay this extended family’s rent as it is not safe to go to work at this time. We are looking to raise 2500 by the 5th of February.

We’ll examine what power and equity can look like in relationships of care, acknowledging that care isn’t charity and survival isn’t enough. At this crucial intersection where disability justice meets domestic worker rights, where immigrant justice meets racial justice, we’ll discuss some of the challenging parts, including how our trauma can show up in these relationships, how systems like capitalism, etc., can force us to be in unhealthy or harmful relationships. We will also share stories of solidarity, mutual interdependence, and creative solutions that folks have developed in the face of the commodification of care.
