E30 roadtrip

My mom and I decided last minute to fly out to Idaho, pickup my dream project car, and roadtrip it 900 miles back home... with no AC

Turns out it’s the same model/color my dad gifted her back when they were dating. Definitely one of the most fun/memorable trips either of us have taken.

Losing my camcorder earlier this year forced me back into photography. I had a video I’ve was planning for months but when I looked in my bag to start shooting, I could I only find my backup point and shoot, a cheap Panasonic LX-100 I took a gamble on from eBay.

Most of my recent posts have chronicled a month of falling back in love with photography using it. In the beginning I missed focus on half the shots and didn’t properly expose most of the others. I dropped it so many times that the battery door got stuck shut, got it drenched running back to my hotel in the pouring rain, left it behind at a restaurant…twice, but it never to gave up on me.

By the end of the trip it began to feel like an extension of myself. The flow state I got into during my daily photo walks became a form of meditation. I felt like a kid again, waking up with tired feet excited to go outside and find beauty in things I would’ve previously overlooked.

The honeymoon phase has since worn off but what the experience taught me is there for life. If I could do it all over again, I’d forget my camcorder at the LAX every time. by @_pierce
