1 in 5 children in England have a probable mental health condition. Yet far too many are still not getting early and easy access to the support they need. Children’s mental health should be at the top of the new Prime Minister’s to-do list: he should make an investment in childhood, so no child faces mental health problems alone. This means prioritising expert, embedded and timely mental health provision in schools, ensuring that every child can access the right support at the right time and can thrive. This model can improve mental health and engagement with learning; reduce suspensions and the likelihood of persistent absence; and improve children’s sense of belonging in school. In the long-term, improvements are sustained over time and lead to improved GCSE grades, higher wages and an economic boost worth £51 billion. Image description: A Place2Be graphic of a red briefcase labeled "Prime Minister" is pictured above a to-do list. The list includes: "Go to the Palace" "Move into No 10" and "Invest in childhood, so no child faces mental health problems alone." by @_place2be
