Paolo Maiarelli is an experimental sound artist and music producer. Inspired by other musicians, over the years he has increasingly developed a personal sound by decomposing and recomposing various genres. Since 2014 he has been working on his own vision under the pseudonym POL100.
Within his practice, Paolo focuses on listening to his inner moods and states of being, attempting to translate and express them through the curation of sound detail. His creative process is characterized by the continuous absorption of external auditory stimuli, which he metabolises and synthesizes into a flow of sounds in perpetual evolution: a constant transition between different states of equilibrium that is far from traditional canons of music-making, as it tends toward deconstruction and the loss of rhythm. The result is a sonic hot pot of ambient, bass break and abstract sounds that has already convinced some European labels.

Here’s a look at one of the Actions from the previous edition:

Gypsotechno
Disassembling, destroying, and fragmenting are parts of the re-use metabolism which can foreshadow actually optimistic future scenarios of a non-extractive architecture. Gypsotechno is a destruction collective performance, with a shredder machine as main actor, a rather obtuse device, embodying the singular moment of destruction, but as part of a creative reuse cycle. The noise produced by the grinding of the material will be captured and live-edited to create a soundscape as part of a festive ritual.

To close out the year, we welcome Milan-based experimental sound artist and producer @_pol100_ as the final Lava Recordings radio guest of 2025 : )

POL100’s sound is anchored in meditative sound design, weaving ambient, bass, breaks, and abstract elements into rhythmically deconstructed forms. He is an incredibly versatile producer, equally at home crafting evocative soundscapes for @easternurseries earlier this year as delivering stunning club weapons for @earlyreflex and @yukuwax .

No matter the genre, his cinematic world always shines through in the layered textures, broken rhythms, and careful balance of tension and release.

This comes through clearly in the mix here where he has showcased another side of his sound. It’s an hour long mix designed for home listening with a focus on sample based hip hop and 90s jungle. I hope you enjoy and thank you to everybody for listening this year <3
